Has anyone created a GT style tach face with a 7K red line? I have been messing around with AusFiero's gauge face images and am trying to come up with one that looks stock. I plan to adjust it with a variable resistor so it will read correctly.

Another question- Is there a mechanical stop for the needle after the 6K mark, or can I simply add to the scale and have it swing 1000 RPM farther? I ended up trying to squeeze the 7K scale into the same sweep area as the 6K scale, with great difficulty.

Any thoughts?

Here is Aus's tach image:

...and here is mine:

Mine is not as clean and I have to work on that. I also forgot the holes, so I have to fix that, too.

Has anyone already done this? It would sure save me some work if there's already one out there.

I assume you want this for a non 2.8 Fiero right? If it is for the 2.8 you could do this

This is for a 3.4 DOHC swap.

how about the Sunbird tach? I know people use them for the boost gauge but the ones without that go to 7k. Might be an easy swap.

There is a stop on the gauge. If I remember correctly mine stops a little before the needle gets to the RPM x 1000 label on the gauge

Short answer: Add to the scale.

There is no mechanical stop on the 88 tach and it continues to increase at a predictable rate. I have shifted with the needle touching the P in RPM many times. I have not bothered to determine how accurate it is in that range, but I don't see why it would be more than a few hundred RPM off at worst.

Edit to add. Mine is a built 2.8.

If you go to the bottom of the thread and switched to the 85 style ,you could use one like I have.

I checked again on the way home and my needle stops right on top of the RPMx1000 writing on the gauge even though the engine is still reving. 3.4 dohc with an 88 v6 tach
