A couple guys, here on the forum, wanted to see some pictures of my 86 Fiero. There are already several pictures on the forum, but here are a few that IIKOOL and Tony Kania asked for. This is what it looked like soon after installing the small block.
And this is how it looks now- several more pictures to follow-
The car started the dreaded Fiero sickness, since I now have 5, an 84 base, an 85 Gt, and two 88 GT's. This car was assembled with an Archie kit, and uses the Isuzu 5 spd. It has coil overs on the rear and cut coils on the front, poly bushings, rear sway bar and KYB shocks/struts. The battery is in the front, using a homemade box. The body has been smoothed, with a Warber style hood vent, and Aus side scoops, with cold air intake on drivers side. . There is also an electric fan to draw cool air in to the engine compartment. The rear spoiler is from a 93 Mustang as I recall. The front nose and side skirts are fashioned from foam and covered with fiberglass. The interior has Mr. Mike's leather and double cup holder, with new gray carpets. It has been a fun experience, and I have done all but the final painting myself. I will be pulling the motor to do some upgrades to the trans. mounts and fix a minor oil leak at the timing chain cover seal. It has won several awards at car shows, most people not believing it has a V8.
That is an interesting front bumper. It looks like it literally has a nose! Good work on the Fiero, I really like it, and that is saying a lot because normally I dis-like red.
Yes , I guess it is a little nose like. Maybe more like a beak. For my first effort at a project like that, I was fairly happy. But, if I do another one, the beak will still be there but just barely. There are several changes that need done on the nose as far as I am concerned. That is the problem with these hobby's, the work never ends. Always a new idea.
Wow, you guys have some crazy looking plants in Oregon. Half of the stuff there looks like Zone-11 / South Florida plants... and the rest look like stuff I would only see in Maine.
Oregon plant and vegetation looks like Maine and Florida had a child...
Yes, our vegitation is a real mixture. I think we are tropical dwellers trapped in a damp, gray Northwest Oregon climate. Some plants survive, some don't make it.
The color of the car is 2006 Dodge Inferno Red. It was supposed to be Candy Apple Red, but had to be repainted since the painter did not like the results of the candy. He painted it twice, for $500. I was really lucky to have a retired cousin (painter) who wanted it to turn out correctly.
I sort of have a closer pic of the grill area. The tube grill is made from an old TV antenna that I found in a storage shed at my Mom's house, after she had passed away. I was sure she would like it to lead the way on this project. I will be installing a different "Fiero V8" emblem on the grill before summer. I found one on e-bay that was originally offered here in the Mall several years ago. I don't know the maker. The one on there now is the stock facia emblem. Sorry about the front plate, but had to add it on after being ticketed while driving my Mini with no front plate. Drove the Mini about six years with no plate- then one day it was illegal.
The motor pics are the best I have, and the most recent configuration. The cold air intake pulls air from the right side Aus scoop. It is a pre 86 -350 with cast iron Vortec heads, Edelbrock, intake and 600 cfm carb. It has a hydraulic "hot rod" cam similar to a 350 hp Corvette motor, all because I liked the idle on my 67 Corvette 350/350.

Oh my! A lot of work went into her to get it sitting like that. Excellent liscense plate. Your Fiero has a flow to it. Keep an eye out around August of next year. We will have another Northwest Fiero Fest, and would love to have your car there. Many from Oregon come.

That was my first major fiberglass project. I read what I could on line and also manufacturers literature put out by the Fglass suppliers. Believe me, this project was more beginners luck than skill. I do have a fair amount of patience and am blessed with a fairly "good eye" for symetry and such. I broke many of the rules of fiberglass 101 along the way. I did use epoxy resin rather than polyester. It is less toxic and stronger than polyester, but drys at it's own pace. You cannot vary the mixture to get quicker drying. I glued the blocks of foam in place on a marine plywood pan (base). Then it was shaped with a Stanley sureform file (cheese grater). After that I sanded it smoother to an undersized configuration. Then, I filled bad areas with bondo to get a final shape. Then I used layers of f iberglass cloth and resin. I wish I had used matt instead, because in certain light, you can see some print thru of the cloth weave, mostly down low where it's not noticeable. This last year , the nose and side aero skirts have developed a few bubbles and will be repaired this winter.
I'm pretty sure most people could do this with time , patience, and a stick to it attitude. Of course, if you are married, you may not see your wife much while doing a project like this. At least, that was the complaint at my house!

Here is another pic of the motor. And some pictures of the rest of my Fiero hobby. A picture of my 88 GT all stock, auto. A picture of my project 88 GT $900, no rust, but PO changed color from silver, go figure. 85 Gt- just finished refurbishment. My 84 base coupe, just finishing up the paint. This was before paint, but the rain makes it look ok.

pretty much safe to say I am jealous.... love the fact you have a mix of stock and modded out. Love the steelies on the 84 base coupe.. does it by any chance have the MY8 econo tranny? If you are ever looking to sell the those "tiny" steel rims (lol) id be interested for my base coupe. The original owner bought the factory aluminum rims from the dealership and eventually threw away the steal rims becuase he didnt think anyone would ever want them.

I too will suggest you attend the next Fiero fest. It's always a good time. 25+ Fieros from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and some times California. If nothing else, it's a great excuse to get away for a weekend.
Love the look of your car. The front end reminds me of a second-gen RX7 for some reason. I like it.

Thanks for the positive comments, people. Maybe if I show my wife this thread, she will change her thinking about my passion for the car hobby since we don't just have Fiero's. She claims i'm spoiled, but I just can't see it. Maybe, if she let me add onto the shop! 62Morris Mini 2003 MINI Cooper S Wife's car 66 Corvette 427/425 4spd/4:10 gears 76 Corvette L82 4spd.
