So I'm trying to finish everything up to get my 3800 into my car, but I need some help! I know theres probably a thread somewhere covering this, but after searching through 15 pages in the search I figured I'd just ask.

First thing is, I need some ideas for how to mount the dog bone? I don't plan on using a low mount alternator bracket.

Second, I was wondering what people did about the bracket that usually holds the coil packs? I'm obviously going to re locate the coil packs, but I dont like how it covers the vavle cover.

The part covering the VC needs to be cut off and even the mounting pad that the icm mounts to can be cut off also. Mount the coilpacks in there battery area or on the firewall. If not doing a low mount then use a lower strut mount setup to support the motor from moving.

I figured most people just cut the idler/tensioner bracket that coverd the valve cover. Just didnt know if that would make it to week. I'm not sure what you mean by using a lower strut mount? Do you have any pictures? Were would it mount to?

I dont think I ever took any pictures of the setup I used. It is just a rigid strut going from the engine to a box welded on the cradle. I used a 88 rear link going from the lower Alt bracket to a box I welded on the cradle. Worked very well on the 3 swaps I used it on....

The 99 up 3800 alt bracket makes a nice platform for a dog bone bracket by welding up some 1/4 inch plate steel and bolting it to where the alt was bolted. There is a few photos in the llink below my sig that may help. Dan
