Although, with age, you do gain a unique perception on what America WAS versus what it is today. (sigh.)
Our technology is alot better, but our humanity is VERY suspect.
I know it sounds whack, but I kind of miss SOME (not all) of the 80's. Everything was original , simple and straight forward. New music, movies, technology, and ideas were ALWAYS pump n out. A very exciting time, full of hope and prosperity. The sky was the limit.
I still remember the thrill of watching TOPGUN when it first came out in '86. Just graduated from high school, and started Airforce basic training in lackland,TX.
Ah, 1986...... Back when Pontiac Motor Division was cool, and they used to say "we build excitement!"
If they had kept this slogan, and stood behind it, they would'nt have shoveled out so many butt ugly lemons like they have over the years. My 2 cents.
66+ Since semi retirement, I actualy have time to attack the car hobby more than ever. But, with 11 cars [ 5 Fiero's ] my wife thinks I'm out of control. There are times when I'm not sure I'll have enough time to complete all the project. But that doesn't stop me from looking for the next find to save from the wrecking yard. I just finished up an 85 GT, now getting ready to paint the 84 to be used as my daily driver. Then an 88 GT waiting for a 3.8 sc. And then a freshening up of my wife's 66 Corvette big block. She really gets mad when she finds it being used as a shelf for Fiero parts! Hopefully the passion I have for cars will not die before I do. Seeing young guys getting into the hobby keeps me hopeful that the car hobby, in general, will stay healthy long into the future.
