Im having a heck of a time trying to find wheels for my 88 Formula. As we all know the offset is different front to rear on the 88's and ive been round and round with different wheel companies about the 88 suspention requiring a staged offset and width. I just cant seem to find what I am in the sizes i want. Ideas? I dont want to go same size all around and push the fron tout too far. The best I can do is http://www.discounttiredire...d=17&rw=7&vid=007019 which has a 42mm offset and is 7 inch wide. That would mean I have to use a wheel spacer. I also cant fit anything wider then a 215/45/17 all around. I kinda wanted a wider tire in the rear to give the car a more aggresive track.

I ran 18 in. different offset and width front and rear wheels on my yellow 88 GT with good results. Check out page 2 of the "Show off you custom rims here" thread. My car is about 2/3 way down the page. Pictures were posted by "Flashy" All the specs and tires sizes are listed. PM me with any questions.

These come in 45 and 35 offsets and 18x7.5". There are couple other models like that.

http://www.wheelmax.com/product.asp?ProdId=15120

These look really nice in 8" with 45 and 35 too.

Seems the Konigs might be nicer for the fact they dont thave the rivets.

I put 18x7.5's with 50mm backset on my 88GT. 225/40's on the front, 245/40 on the back and I bought some 10mm spacers for the back. Come to find out I didnt need the spacers. When I found that my studs were too short, I just tried to fit the wheels without the spacer and they fit perfectly. Car looks great.

I had 42mm on rear once and in my opinion they were too far in for a good look but most people would not notice it or wouldn't care. 50mm would be much worst. I also found out that the studs will be too short for some spacers.

I had a set of staggared TSW wheels on my Formula a few years ago. I think 7 inch wide, 35mm rear (same as stock) 7 inch wide, 45mm front or something like that.

One trick might be to look up wheels on sites using different vehicles. I noticed on tireracks site, you could find the same wheel in different offsets, but had to search using cars that required different offsets and had the 5x100 bolt patter, like VW's, Subarus, etc. It worked for me a few years ago anyway...

PS, please post the wheel width's with the offset, since the overall width will have an impact on where the outer and inner wheel lips end up too (ie, a 7 inch 50mm offset wheel is going to produce different results than a 7.5mm, 50 inch offset wheel).

You want good results for 88 front offsets? Look up wheels for a 05 Saab 9-2x...

Joe Torma's Wheel Offset Chart for reference

The new TSWs don't come in 7" anymore They are 8" and bigger for 5x100. I spent some good time looking last night and options are very limited for staggered. I just had the same problem when I got my TSWs.

They are 18x7.5 50mm backspace F&R, 225/40/18 front, 245/40/18 rear

I couldnt pass up the wheels, tires.com had a sale around christmas time and these were on closeout and had an instant rebate if you bought a whole set, and free shipping if you bought a whole set, so they came out to $50.04 per wheel, shipped.

Tires, I didnt come out so lucky. haha

I am running a 7 inch rim with 42mm offset on all four corners. Doing the math, if you put a 10mm spacer on it, have you made the offset 32 or 52? I have the spacer, longer studs and new 88 hubs going on my car. I am sure that it will move the rears out enough to look good, but for future ref, I would like to know if I made the offset bigger or smaller.

i feel your pain...
i'm too the point of buying 2 sets of wheels. one set (w/close offset) just for the fronts and one set (w/close offset) for the rears. that would give me two complete sets to put on two cars. or find a company that will do custom offsets and bolt pattern.

The ones in my yellow car are 35mm up front and now rub the fender a little with the 225 tires (had 215 before). I was planning later on to take them to a machine shop and see if they could be cut a little (like 1cm to get to 45mm). I did that long time ago with a set of rims for an Escort. Of course I would need to check how much beef is there to do a safe cut.

If you put a 10mm spacer on a 42mm offset, you will have a 32mm offset. on a 7" rim they may stick out some.
