I need some news tires, anyone have a suggestion for a good affordable tire. I don't race or anything like that, and it won't need to stand up to winter. Just looking for a good value, or what to avoid.

I decided I would give Sumitomo a try, I ordered their 205/60/15 and 215/60/15 the other day and just got the text from the wife that they are waiting for me at home. They were only $58 a tire and had some good reviews and testing done by tirerack. There arent a whole lotta choices out there for our size in the performance category. Had I not ordered the Sumitomo's I probably wouldve went with some Goodyear Eagle GT's

I'm a big fan of the BF Goodrich Traction T/A and Bridgestone Potenza RE960 tires. They're great tires with good traction. The Bridgestone especially has amazing wet weather traction, but both are really good tires. They are a bit more expensive up front, but they'll last pretty well, too.
I've had Sumitomo tires and the best I can say for them is their mostly round and hold air. They are cheap, and it shows. I have Sumitomos and some other unpronounceable brand tires on my 2000 Trans Am now. It was the cheapest tires the dealer could throw on their before I bought the car. In a word - they suck.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE960 tires look great and have a great rating on Tirerack.com Although they didn't show the BF Goodrich tires you where talking about. But Bridgestone is Japanese, so I would rather have Goodyear or BFgoodrich. I guess I'll dig some more. Thanks!

I don't know if their made in the size you need but the Dunlop Sport Signature series is a good tire well rated and reviews on tire rack and tire test.com. I have them on my gt their replacing a set of Uniroyal pos's that the previous owner put on there. I have found them to track well hold the road very nicely and still have a low rolling resistance. They also run well in rain the for mentioned Uniroyal's would slip in a right hand turn even at 10 mph where as the Dunlops stick it with that sure and steady feel. btw its made here in the usa too.
I am currently running Fusion HRi's on my Formula. They are not the most spectacular tires around for all out performance, but they are ok. I have found they stick much better after you wear them down a bit. I did have them on the track at Watkins Glen this past spring, and they do ok, although they do give up before the chassis did too. They are a decent cheap tire, but I have had better Dunlops for sporty driving.
Why I got them? Cheap! $88 per tire, mounted, balanced, roadhazard warranty. Best all inclusive price I could get locally.
When these are toast, I am intending to try a set of Bridgestone RE960AS Pole Positions. A little more pricey, but I want to see how much of an actual difference it makes in the handling, grip, and feel of the car.

Well, I have Traction T/As on my Formula now.
Tire Rack is only showing the T-rated Traction T/A. There were also H and V rated versions, depending on size. I have the H-rated ones on my Formula. The V-rated ones didn't come in OEM Fiero sizes. They may have discontinued the other sizes too.
I used to have RE950s on my Formula and I only went to the Traction T/As because they stopped making them. Now that the RE960 is out, I'll try it next, but judging by reviews and how good my RE950s were, they should rock.
