I believe i have contributed where possible to the forum and admit now this is my favorite website. I am now 37 years old and first read about what can be done with fieros when looking up kit cars when wanting my first car at 16. The fiero i believe is the biggest cult car in the world. No other car has the ability to transform so much and no other model car would come close to percentage of cars modified. Besides modifications it just feel raw to drive no power steering and a fight to drive in traffic but still so desirable. I just love my car and the benifits of PFF. At 16-20 my folks owned a 1927 Buick ute, 72 vette and an 82 FLH harley the net/bbs forums were rather useless back then so a million phone calls to USA for anything. Pennocks has made it possible for me to aquire the info i require locating instructions and even build threads which have inspired me to modify my own car.
Hate to waste a thread and may get attention with the headline so thought i would ask a question. I have seen a lot of replicas and kit cars many with the Rod Dickmans shifter but does everyone custom make their own replica gates as i have never seen replica ferrari style shifter gate for sale only the shifters. I have bought materials to make my own but i am sure there would be others that want one. I have posted a few threads on this but since i was wasting a post i thought id ask.

I thought you'd have a compilation of your posts...

I'd think the Bug surpasses the Fiero big time. You can find several magazines on the newsstands and people have been modding them for 50+ years with 20,000,000+ made.

Australian, I agree with you about this wonderful web site. I joined a Mustang forum to learn more about my daughter’s car and it’s lame. I joined and NSX forum to learn about a car on my wish list, but hardly anyone there has an NSX. They’re all wanabees. I joined a Lotus Esprit forum for the same reason but those cars don’t exist in large numbers so there are few members and few posts. Heck, on this web site you post with a problem and the answers start coming in immediately. I suppose that is because Fieros are relatively common so the membership here is large. Well, that is what keeps Fieros affordable too.

The problem is i can't start making it as i just don't have a drill press i have a drill, grinder and dremmel etc but untill i drill the 6 holes square and neat i can't make a start. I have bought a foot of aluminium150 x 100 x 10mm enought to make 2 without error. i bought thicker to build up the height to hide the ugly part of the shifter i also had an idea to sleeve a thicker chrome pipe over the stick. I have also put some thought into making them out of plastic and chrome painting them to look like metal after finding that most of the lambo replicas are plastic.

Thanks dude it is a bit of trial and error. I am now flaring the rear guards again for more of a real widebody feel to achieve that porsche rear guard look i have built it out of foam so far and will glass it up soon it will be a lot fatter than what you have seen. Most of the car is in two pack primer now and just needs cutting back again no pics of this yet or of other mods but for finishing touches I am belling it right out for a far more aggressive look. I will show off the wheels when i have them tucked under right. It was actually finished but i cut the flare because i want my car to look really staggered and that photoshop pic haunted me.

Yes well i joined a bmw e30 site and not much joy in comparison besides that the problem with the internet is every webmaster wants to be the one with the successful forum. Forums generate translate traffic with all the seach engines picking up the threads and keywords. If you looked around there would be thousands of mustang forums with a dozen members rather than a dozen with thousands of members. Because the site is old with always fresh content from fresh threads and older archived content the search engines keep indexing the pages. Pennocks has held in the search engines due to reciprical linking but with the icing on the cake the generic domain dot com it now can only fail when 15,000 or so of us lose interest in these cars.
