The time has come for a new muffler to go along with the new 3.4L P/R that I just finished

.... I hate the sound of the Camaro 3.4L at WOT. At idle it sounds good but when you step on it...... uhhhh -- weak. Unfortunately I now have the same block. But I have Comps 260 cam, 1.6 ratio rockers and port and polished heads. I'm for the straight through design muffler and not a baffled muffler like Flowmaster ( throat and meaty sound only ) I know that doesn't sound right but if it's coming..... out of the exhaust, it's okay. Plus I'm married... to a girl!

..... My choices would be:

Ocelot.... BORING

Borla...... I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IT!!! ------- nowhere to be found and discontinued in our size (50 orders would be needed to bring it back and ALL I WANT IS THE MUFFLER... (comes stainless)

Spintech.... Christmas tree design inside but I don't know how the direction/design is with our config. - 1 in and dual out opposite sides... don't really like the sound though at a higher rpm. (comes stainless)

Magnaflow..... Love the interior design of straight through piping but the F style, which is what they have, is a 19" wide case x 10 x 5... so it's too big. (comes stainless)

Dynomax.... I have on my Ranger 4.0L and love the sound and performance --- None offered for our cars or they are too big and made for the Firebird or Camaro only. ( I believe it comes stainless if you want)

SO NOW I'M ONTO this Warlock exhaust by Flowtech.... Heard it rusts. They don't offer the stainless steel and the direction of flow is reversed to what we need it for..... BUT, the cheese grating inside is actually in the correct direction for NO resistance. I called the dealer Holley... and I wish I could say they were a big help.... got nowhere and he offered me the Camaro/Firebird style which is too big, which I told him, but the sales guy again wasn't open minded. THE ONLY THING THAT I DON'T LIKE IS THAT IT DOES NOT COME STAINLESS...

Question... Would it be retarded to have stainless headers, stainless Y section, stainless cat and piping back to the muffler, "mild steel muffler", and ending in stainless piping to some nice polished dual tips?

I've listen to some sound tracks on youtube and all but I was wondering if I missed some.... Any you guys know of.... even if it what I've seen... please feel free to post them or drop a link... Thanks

Take a look at the picture below though and let me know what you think..... no cap, of course...

Look into the Flowtech muffler from Summit. Its physically smaller than a flowmaster 80, and doesn't hang down or have as many clearance issues as the Flowmaster. I have one on my 88 duke, and it sounds pretty good (for a 4 cyl anyway). Nice and deep, throaty noise, but not too overpowering when at WOT... It is 3" in, 2.5" dual out crossflow....

Edit: I believe THIS is the one I have on my car. Its been on there since the end of February, and has seen snow and salt, still no rust.

Everything in their behavior speaks of insult and presumptuousness, and for now it is all I can do to make constructive use of my anger toward them. At this time, I just make a list of them and keep a watch on. Whats wrong with the one you have now?

What I like about that Warlock muffler is that there was some engineering into the product. I was trying to figure out what the red tube was on the cap.....the removable end cap actually has a flow director so when installed, the gasses are directed into the chamber. Older mufflers with a cut-out had just a removable cap. These guys gave this muffler some thought and it is nice to have the cut-out for that obnoxious race sound

Actually it did sound nice - the one I have now, with the hole in it. Just a little BBQ in the trunk though. Plus I don't want it next to this......

I found this clip for the Flowtech afterburner on a 3.4L firebird... doesn't give much to go by but you can hear it

Thanks for the replies... keep them coming

I want my car to sound like this 3.8L Camaro if it's possible - bad ass tubbed sound

I have the flowtech afterburner in my 4.3 and SCB fieros and really like the sound, but it is on the loud side.

Both have the 3" in dual 2 1/2" out to the stock fiero tips:

Anyone else have any input on the Warlock? Do you think it'll be a good idea? What about the stainless steel piping welded to the mild steel? Is that dumb to do?

----------------------------------------

And heck! we can turn this thread into sweet sounds our cars make..... MORE VIDEOS PLEASE!!!!! and when you post..... list the facts. Come on, it'll be fun to see and most of all, hear.

make
model
what engine you're running, cam etc.....

I have the Flowtech Afterburner muffler on my 3800SC swap. It sounds pretty good at idle, it's a bit loud though. No sound clips right now though.

Here's a video from Taiwan... In the comments he says that he's done some crank or cam work. and I don't know the exhaust but it sounds like a different firing order...

The white one above is awsome and my dreamsound in the Fiero, to bad it´s fake, an F360 Modena with Tubi system makes the sound..

The red one is the best real Fiero sound so far, and I want that engine sound, but the owner refuses to give any real tips of whats done on the car, asked him several times before and just gets strange and meaningless answers..

Thinking myself of a custom system with no cat and only two hidden Japs muflers were the original one sits, has anyone tryed that on an Fiero ???

I found this one and it's one that I want to avoid as far as the sound goes.... Flowtech turbo muffler...

I'm also thinking that our cars, being that it has a smaller muffler, will not sound like a camaro anyway.... Just a precaution measure that I want to take.

This one sounds like sh*t ... claims 320 hp for this 3.4L P/R --- ooooooooh has a chip in it..... Sorry Camaro dude but ah..... NO ( stock 160hp with 190-200 torque )

Plus his garage door is closed. I probably would have opened it for the exhaust to excape.... Not sure what the exhaust is either... I wish that if people make "exhaust videos", they need to explain a little more

I think this one would be embarrassing.... no question that it's a V6.... I hope I don't get stuck with that exhaust sound because of my block...

Where did everyone go?.. I'm not boring you am I?... we need some more input... I know I've been searching for the 3.4L sounds... but that doesn't mean that I don't want to hear anymore V8 or SC fieros..... Sound candy come back to me.....

Here's something inspiring!!!!

I just want to make the right decision on sound for my ride....
