It seems too many people don't know how, or don't want to use the SEARCH function because they find it difficult.
But using it would cut down on the same questions being asked every 2 weeks. (I'm more than happy to answer "unanswered" questions.)

A quick tutorial. Always start with fewest words and set to search Subject/Username. I also like to search "Entire Forum + Archives".

Then you can Sort by Date to bring the latest threads to the top of the list.
http://www.fierosearch.com/...=DoSearch&datesort=D

If you get too many hits, add another word to the search pattern.
http://www.fierosearch.com/...ofer&Action=DoSearch

If still too many, add another.
http://www.fierosearch.com/...lace&Action=DoSearch

Changing to search Entire Thread will give 100's of thread hits (why I recommend search by subject)
http://www.fierosearch.com/...lace&Action=DoSearch

You can also READ the directions http://www.fierosearch.com/search_help.html

I think some of the confusion is from titles like
how do I fix this?
or
WTF??
or
has anyone done this?

No way you can find threads like that. make a title that pertaing to the subject so anyone CAN find it in search.

let just hope some of them reads this ....

This is the real problem with search. Vague topic titles or just the plain fact that I can't remember the topic title. I try to use favorites when I think I might refer to a thread in the future.

Yup. But since most people ask the SAME questions over and over again anyway, it's likely not a big deal if Search misses whatever is in those threads (most of the time). It will still find the those threads with the right keyword in the subject line.

By contrast, if you decide to search using "entire thead" nobody wants to look through 10 screens of hits anyway...

... so they then post the SAME question AGAIN "how much oil for my tranny?"

...which is something they could LOOK UP in an Owner's or Service Manual to start with.

With Pennock's Search funtion you can not sort by date of thread.. only the last post. <- this is a huge PITA.

Great reminder. To be honest, I hardly start technical topics because I can usually find at least 10 threads in the archives about a question I have. I don't know how people don't WANT to use the search function. It's instant and there is endless amounts of information available.

As was pointed out in the other thread like this one... Try a google search. Type in what you are looking for in google, space, then. site:www.fiero.nl

Example... Dew wipes site:www.fiero.nl

Copied here from other post in Tech:
I gave up using the search, and use google instead. Just append site:www.fiero.nl at the end of your query. This lets you use Google's fancy features, like quotes, and the minus "-", etc.

Works better, and returns really relevant results at the top. Example:
