I picked these scoops up off e-bay last fall and have been working them into this hood during the winter! I got it primed and ready for the base coat. LMK what you think. I like'm because they have a lip that defines them more than most flush mount scoops. Can anyone guess what they came off of

PONTIAC FIREBIRD. I hope you got the plastic vents.
BINGO! I did but I'm not going to use the vents....they block the opening making the scoops not functional. I'm going to using the same style screen I used on my stage 2 side scoops.

Thats too bad, cause the vent can be cut to become fully functional and ad "favor" to the hood. I ought to know, I've been using them for years.

I did think of cutting it but I was thinking it would look sharp to match my side scoops. I also glassed over the "Pontiac" in the headlight door and I will be removing the emblem on the front facia for a cleaner look. Can we see pics with your Firebird scoops please!

Turn the vent around and carefully map-out the disired vent you want to use. The tool of choice is a Dremel. Cut-out the lower roof or shelfs vent you want exposed; thats what I did on both #011 and #015 choptops. #015 uses the full vent whereas #011 was cut to fit a smaller vent.

I was looking at a Firebird hood just yesterday, thinking the hood vents would probably work well. My only holdup was that part of the vent was stamped into the hood. Looks good, though, Gokart.
It looks good, is it far enough back to miss the radiator? I think one of the things Pontiac missed on the Fiero was installing some vents for the radiator. I also like cut in vents like yours instead of just holes with screen. (nothing wrong with vent holes and screen I just don't like it)

Lookin good! I'm going to tackle the same project pretty soon, but I've been swayed by those beautiful '04 Mustang Cobra vents that were shown on here a few days ago.

I'm sure it would work, but on #011 I purchased the Firebird vents and was to use them without the lip. IMO I think you'll be better off you fiberglassed a layer pass the plastic lip mounted the Firebird scoops below. This way you'll have a smooth transition and less fluff. The key IMO is to make the scoops appear they were OEM. Oh yeah, use the vents too.
For fun, remove one of the vents and place it underneath the cut-out; take a pic and see if this idea is better. This what I would do if I did #011 hood all over again. The end result will look similar to the guy whose making a Cobra hood.
