I have not seen any "vertical" door hinges that have been easily installed without some modifications. Many of these hinges cost $1500-2000 and still need work for them to fit a Fiero. The Fiero door is quite heavy and the piston that lifts the door looks rather weak on that kit. You are bidding on an item that "will be built" once you send in the money which is a red flag to me.

Get him (or her) to point you at some satisfied customers that bought his last kit and have successfully installed it on a Fiero. There's nothing better than good references.
If he's selling them for $400 (assuming there was only one bid say) then I assume whoever is making them is getting less than that so you gotta wonder about the quality/fit. Maybe the $1500 ones are really over priced or maybe there's a reason they are $1500.
Yeah, I was kinda thinking it was a too-good-to-be-true kinda thing. He's only got one feedback and has only been on eBay since last month. I'll let this one pass.

Disclaimer for this post I have no personal experience or involvement with XD and all my info comes from this thread. I should say these "New" Fiero kits might work but judging by their business practice I doubt it.
Hi all, Sorry guys for bringing this thread up again, but it looks like the XD kits are still being offered on eBay as Fiero - Bolt-on kits. I have a hunch, it's beeing sold by these guys or one of their associates.
Old auction ended at Jan-28-08 - $660: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot...ME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123 Direct Bolt On Fiero Lambo Door System Your bidding on a brand new, never used Lambo Door system that's designed to bolt straight to the stock Fiero hinge locations. Bought the kit with every intention to use on my own car, but simply do not have the time and or area to do such a modification. I have however checked with an extra set of hinges to make sure all holes lined up and there are no problems whatsoever that way. Kit comes with Left and Right hinges, 2 shocks, wiring extensions, mounting hardware and a general set of instructions. Kit seems very solid, and well put together. No Reserve. Shipping is $55 to anywhere in the continental US. International bidders please contact for shipping quote prior to bidding.
New Auction ending Mar-03-08: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot...9QQitemZ110227973569 Direct Bolt On Fiero Lambo Door System Your bidding on a brand new, never used Lambo Door system that's designed to bolt straight to the stock Fiero hinge locations. Due to high demand on the last kit I posted, I got in contact with the company to see if I could get more to sell. Heres how it works, if you are the winning bidder on the kit, upon receiving payment, the company will begin manufacturing the kit, and within 2 weeks or less the kit will be made and then shipped to your location. Company will also be provide photo updates as your kit is being made. So what you getting is a kit that is completely brand new, and made specifically for you! Kit comes with Left and Right hinges, 2 shocks, wiring extensions, mounting hardware and a general set of instructions. Kit are very solid, and well put together. No Reserve. Shipping will be $60 to anywhere in the continental US. or Canada. International bidders please contact for shipping quote prior to bidding. Check out my feedback from the last kit I sold and bid with confidence.
My communication with eBay seller about the Jan-28-08 auction: Dear fretpicker30, Hi, Could you let me know what is the source company for this kit. There has been some "bad" Fiero kits out there and I would like to do the research. Thanks ~~~ Dear mister Believe the companies name was XD as thats what it said on the box but purchased it from a shop in the Windsor area. Any other questions I'd be more then happy to answer. Thanks ~~~ Hey man, I thought so, if you want you can read this and let me know what you think: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/063822.html It was a huge story on the Fiero forum... Thanks. ~~~ Hey, Thanks for the link, unfortunately selling the kit so no longer need any more info on them. Again thanks though. Paul Toner fretpicker@hotmail.com

The pictures filenames are :Fieronewestkit3.jpg, VolkGolf1.jpg, SunfireNewest2.jpg, Universalbolton2.jpg So this is not an "innocent" seller that "Bought the kit with every intention to use on my own car"
I would be very gald to hear that these are working just fine, direct bolt on for $500-700...but until that day... Buyer beware !!!
Ding, ding, ding. We have a connection.
A word to the youngins, If the company states they are bolt-ons and they don't provide a actual pic of a Fiero w/them on, don't buy the product. Granted, the product is located in Canada and I'd be thinking it's the same guys who made Dr. CPU's VDC kit.

I contacted the seller on the last set and found out that the shop was extreme doors from windsor canada. Wasn't that the company that ripped off alot of people on this forum before? I decided to pass and will pass on these too. I know of no bolt on sets for the Fiero

Just build your own. I really wish I would have made a thread when I did mine. I had an 84 parts car that was just chillin in the drive way, and a week where I had nothing going on. I was in highschool, it was the summer, and a bunch of my friends were on vacation. I designed and built a set so they would bolt on, i got a bunch of pictures for reference, and spent about $200 and did it. They werent the prettiest things, but they worked. If I were to do it now, being 5 years older, I could probably do a much better job on it.
I didnt keep them for two reasons. One, I didnt wanna spend $180 for a pair of struts to lift the doors (although if i were to buy them, it still would have been a lot cheaper than buying a kit) and two, like many of them out there you still had to open the door a crack to get past the pin, and I really didn't like that after it was all said and done and began figuring out how to mod the space frame so I could have them be true scissor hinge. Then my parents stepped in and told me i was spending too much time and money on a parts car.
Seriously though, I find it hard to believe that no one on here has been able to make a set for sale for cheap that are bolt on and are quality. I would LOVE to do it for you guys, and I really do mean it. These cars are so much fun and I know a ton of people would like to do this but dont want to dish out 2k or more for it, but I just do not have the time(Design school has eaten my soul and I have no more time). Ill see if i can dig up the info that I had from when I built them if anyone was interested. Send me a PM.
and the problem with lambo door systems that are supposedly bolt on is that most of the struts that are used to assist the door in opening go into the door where you have to add a mounting point, which makes it very much NOT bolt on. Some systems are out there where it uses one or even two high pressure tiny struts to hold the door up, but they are under so much more pressure than a larger one that extends into the door. its all about the moment of force and when you are that close to the hinge trying to hold all that weight, its crazy. if you have the strut lifting from the center of the door (or closer to it) then you have a much easier time opening it, but the strut has to open further which it can considering the distance it has to move. You would however have to cut open a hole in the door for the strut to come out of.
I also didnt try my hinge that I made myself on another car so I have no idea if it would be bolt on on another. I have been told when this subject has come up before that they cant be bolt on because some are different, although I dont know if I trust that info.
I'm just curious as to why the cars would be that different. Didn't Pontiac make each one on a computerized cnc machine so the panels would all fit the same? Wouldn't that make them all within mm of each other? The doors are not built for one specific car either, they were made in bulk and then put on whatever car was on the line when it went through. Just asking.
