As some of you know, two of are beloved Fiero's are going on the Barret Jackson block in mid January. I shot them an e-mail asking if the Fiero would make the airways or not. I figure if they get enough of these e-mails they might air it rather than bypass it. Does anybody think this will work? I'm very excited to see the Fiero on the block and more excited to see what it will go for. If you decide to shoot an e-mail go to barretjackson.com and scroll to the bottom section and you'll see contact us. Don't know if it will work but we have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.
Does Barret-Jackson decide what gets aired or does speed channel?
Barrett-Jackson and speed channel work together to arrange the order in which the cars go across the auction block so that the high priced/popular/rare ones happen during the live broadcasts. From what I have seen neither Fiero will be on during the air time. The convertable will go across the auction block around mid afternoon on Tuesday (lot # 46) and the 88 will go across Thursday afternoon (lot # 612) The TV times start live at 7pm So you should see around lot number 100 on Tuesday and Thursday starts off with Lot # 691.

In the grand picture the Fiero's are not a high prioity at this auction.
Sorry it will be another 10-15 years before we may see a Fiero get some special attention. The cars of the 80's are not yet anything special but our time will come and we will see some attention.
I don't think either Fiero will do very well as this was the wrong auction. I would say Auburn may have been a better bet and they could have had a reserve.
I hope I am wong but I don't see rich drunk guys passing up old Z/28, old Ferarri's and old Cuda's for a Fiero. The Auburn event is more collector driven and less show biz.

Well said, I agree.

Just out of curiosity, What price do you consider for them to "do well"?
Personally I think the convertible will get the higher price most likely into the teens. ($14K-16K) The 88 GT will most likely go for less than $10K. I really hope that they do better especially the convert but those are my guesses.
Although you won't see them on TV, The "Sold" listing is updated every 30 minutes so you can check out the convert sold price on Tuesday evening and the 88 on Thursday evening.
Personally, I hope they are not televised, and I hope the dont sell for very much. I dont want Fiero values to go up, and make them less accessible for you and I. It seems to me that these televised auctions are a big part of the reason that the prices for classic muscle cars have skyrocketted in the last few years. While it would be nice to think that we are all driving highly desireable, high dollar cars, it is not worth the downsize of getting priced out of the Fiero market.

I hope I am wrong but here is my guess.
The Convertible will be lucky to get 10-12K
The GT will not clear 10K
I would love to see the convrtible get 16-20K
and the GT get 10-12k but I don' see it happening here.
Tha Banshee last year even with it's history did not make over 100K but a ugly Bonspeed Sunfire custom brought 90K Go figure.
The problem is cars in our group like Corvairs and Nash Metropolitans [the collector cars but not in great demand by the general public never really perform well at this event.
I think the Fiero will do better when the 80's cars catch fire. Cars like ours the SVO Mustangs and limited edition TA's and the like will increase in value. but right now the mid 70's are just now catchin fire.
The convertible is a well built car and a one off but it has no major history that many know about. It also has no big name tired to it. As it stand the buyer will be buying it just because it is a convertivble and not really care about much more. It's not like Shelby name is going to put his name on this and give you his hat or Sammy Hagar will give you a guitar if it clears 50K. The stock 4 banger hurts too.
I hope they do sell well as we all win if they do, but I just don't see it happening.

I thought the Fiero caught fire in the 80's? J/K
I have to agree with you, the Fiero's time (nor any 80's car) has not yet come for this. I wish both sellers the best, and hope they get a fair price for their cars, but they will not fetch a big dollar.
I think you're all wrong, Jay Leno is going to come out and buy each Fiero for 100K , wishful thinking right! So what it sounds like is at Auburn the Fiero would be more of a collectible and possibly go for more money and on the other hand at Barret Jackson the Fiero would need a V8-supercharged-turbo-all wheel drive in order to get a good dollar. That sort of sucks!!

All you need to do for a 7 figure Fiero is to buy a low milage Enzo and slap a Fiero emblem on the nose. Instant Million dollar Fiero.

I'm going to say the 84 vert will go for 12,850.00 and the 88 will sell for 15,600.00 not inc. the rip off fees. Does any one know if a min. bid starting price has been placed on the cars?

They usualy start the bidding at $1000, If no one makes a bid they will drop to $500. (Well that's how it was when I went a few years ago on the low end cars) Some cars do have minimum starting bids which are listed on the cars but they are not "reserve" bids. If nobody makes an offer they will lower the starting bid.
