Midwest Fieros is once again hosting a fall cruise through western Iowa, and a burger burn BBQ at Musicman_L7's shop this month. The event will be held on:
Sunday October 1st, 2006
We will be cruising from Omaha, NE, through the Loess Hills of western Iowa, to Defiance, IA; where my home and shop are located. Following the cruise will be a BBQ, with meat and basic drinks provided. We do ask that you bring a side dish, or a dessert to share, and any specific beverages if you want something more than tea, lemonade, that sort of thing.
Times have yet to be determined, as well as the route. Expect the route to be approximately 90-120 minutes of drive time. We will plan to arrive in Defiance around 3:30 or 4:00 pm; allowing for an early supper, leaving time for everyone to get home before it gets too late on a Sunday.
So, let me know if you'd be interested in attending.
Everyone is welcome! ------------------ Nic
Beware the toes you step on today, for they may be attached to the ass you must kiss tomorrow.

I wish I could make it up there. I don't think I'll make it this year.

Well, so far it's about neck and neck for the choice of dates, but it's currently leaning toward the October 1st date. Sorry Mike, (litespd)...
Once I hear back from a few more people, I'll try to get a date nailed down by the end of this week. Then, I'll start working on a timeframe, and a route. From the responses that last year's route earned, I'll be hard pressed to do better than last year's, so I may copy parts of the old route, and change some other parts (just so you guys don't get bored). Of course, the county road, that was asphalt, but didn't have any lines painted on it will be included. Nothing beats that road, for some fun twists, turns, and dives as you bounce through the countryside.
Thanks for the replies, and the interest... This should be a nice event.

Paul,
Sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it. I will admit though, we would owe you more than just a burger if you drove all the way up here for a cruise through western Iowa. (Not that I'm knocking my own event, but... You know what I mean.)
Why don't you bring your car up to Omaha for the World of Wheels show this March? If interested, shoot me a PM or an email. We're beginning to plan for that through the winter. :nudge, nudge:
Well, so far, from who has replied... October 1st, is the preferred weekend, plus it gives an opportunity for people to get it on their calendars. I think the 17th was too short of notice for most people.
RACE, it'd be great if you could make it, and even bring some other people from that end of the state. If you guys don't want to have to drive quite so far, you could just meet up with us at my shop for the BBQ, hiway 44 west to Harlan from Des Moines is a decent drive (for the last half). The first half of the trip is very scenic on Hiway 141, which would bring you to within 6 miles of my area, when it joins hiway 59.
buger_57, yes it is a race... The faster you rip through the streets of Harlan taking your driver's test, the more experienced the tester will think you are.
I'll edit my first posting, showing the scheduled date... I hope we get a nice turnout for the cruise...

We will meet around 1:00pm, at the Cubby's Phillips 66 station, on 48th street in Omaha. It is just south of I-680, at exit 12. Plan to leave promptly, by 1:30pm, with a full tank of gas. The route is nearly two hours long, and over 110 miles. There is an optional scenic stop we can make along the way. Preparation Canyon, one of Iowa's State Parks, is located just past our halfway point. It offers a scenic view in the hills, over a heavily wooded area. It would provide a nice place for pictures, and an opportunity to have a break outside of the car. We can discuss this option at the meet, or you can reply with a preference as to whether we make this stop or not.
Please RSVP to me, via email, or here, no later than Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006.
Hope to see you all there!
Nic

Nic, as you know, I won't be able to make it, due to my son's benefit which is being held on the 1st. I hope you have a good turnout...and, as I won't be there....it's YOUR turn to take the pics and post them. But, if you don't want to mess with them, send them to me, I'll resize them for you, and either post them, or return them to you so YOU can post them..
