(sorry, I forgot to mention "dialup warning" in the title)

OK, here's the story. It is the tale of two dying cars - the first, an Indy, whose frame is too messed up to restore from a rollover accident. The second is a 95 Firebird that was wrecked and purchased for the 3.4 pushrod engine. Pokeyfiero, the mad scientist (well, engineer) that he is, got an idea. Could the roof, windsheild, and entire rear from the roof to the tail of a Firebird be combined, somewhat Frankenstein-style, onto a Fiero frame? Well, after about 8 hours, half a dozen Sawzall (tm) blades, several movements of a Bobcat, a lot sweat, and even more bad language, we are starting to get an answer. May I present, Pokeyfiero's Fierobird...uh...Fiero-enstein...umm...mongrel:

Hmm...is this gonna fit?

OH, S**! Here comes Pokey with the tractor. This CAN'T be good

The other Fieros rest comfortably, in the shade

Say goodbye to the Indy, God rest it's soul

Pokey: armed, and ready to do some damage

The front end, cut up and prepped for the new top

The donor car sits awaiting it's final resting place

The basic lines are taking shape

The new roofline. I'll bet a scoop would work there...

View from inside. The board is to hold the roof in place until the metalwork is done

Another look at the rear

This is so awesome. I remember dreaming up this idea back when we were ripping the engine out of that Firebird. I always figured it for a pipe dream, what with so much work. I'm impressed you got going on it so fast, its looking good. Going to look very exotic with the long back, long windshield, and short nose. I can't wait till the mock ups done and the real car gets built. I imagine I'll have a hand it at least some of it. This is gonna be cool!

No, it was a Firebird, not a Camaro. That would be a Fiaro, or a Camiero. Heck, the name a lone is reason not to use a Camaro!

Looks like you'll triple the trunk space but still won't be able to carry ice cream too long. Have fun when changing the spark plugs, or can you get to them from the front?

LOL you guys are having WAY too much fun! Always figured that there was something strange & wonderful going on in your heads.

Question....
Looks like a hot day. How many cases of beer did it take to keep up that level of activity?

Alcohol & powertools can do some pretty amazing things!

Keep in mind, the Firebird has a very long windshield. The front of the windshield will come almost to the center of the front wheels when installed, giving the car a very short nose. Its a little tricky to imagine, but it will resemble your high end Italian exotics with the short nose and long rear, as well as engine under glass in the back.

Try buying a mid engine Firebird with a N*. This car won't look like a Firebird when its done. The more work that gets down, the less Firebird it becomes. And heck, its only a Firebird roof and windows anyway.

Yeah! Photoshop away!

Pokey requests photoshop ideas, especially for a front end. He wants a more European look, not stock GM. Countach, Diablo, McLaren. He tends not to like Ferrari front ends.

Mid-engine firebird...cool concept.

What kind of dash are you going to use? If you go with the firebird dash you could use the stock filler panel on top without cutting it. That would look awesome. Keep up the good work.
