Hey guys, Ive had my stage two scoops sitting my garage for a while now and Im dying to get them on the car before the California Coast Run this weekend. I need them painted to match and installed but I really dont want to spend any more than $600. Is this a realistic price range or do you think it will cost more?
P.S. Im talking about body shops here, I wish i could do it myself but i have no tools, or skill for that matter.

To get my entire front bumper repainted and reinstalled when i got backed into it only cost (the other persons insurance company hehe) 300$ canadian. I can imagine it costing any where near 600 american to get something as small as a side scoop painted. Just get estimates from your local bodyshops

There is a lot more work involved in putting on side scoops than there is a front end. I can replace a front end in an hour. For the side scoops there are lots of other parts that have to come off, not to mention having to finish the fiberglass. Even the best parts need some work to fit correctly.
I'm not saying that it should cost more than $600. I'm just saying that those two jobs don't compare. The problem I think is going to be finding a shop that has time to do it in 4 days. Unless you can find some of the local Fiero junkies to help you get them mounted and them take the car somewhere to be sprayed, I would think it would be better to wait. About the only places that I figure can get something in and out that quick is Maaco. I know they have a bad rep but some of them are not all that bad if they have good techs.
Maybe some of the guys up there in that area may know some shops that can get you in and out. Good luck.
Speeder, I am almost sure that they wouldnt charge you 600 bucks to paint a set of sidescoops. There labor costs could vary but here its $48 an hour. It all depends on what kind of condition there in too. If the gelcoat on them is very good with no scratches then all they would have to do is scuff it with 320 and prime it amd then shoot the base. A pint of base coat would do two side scoops. Installation doesent take that much experience. Im 16 and i installed a stock set after they were painted. If your mounting holes are predrilled on your scoops then all you need to attach them are plastic nylon rivits. Im glad to see that i wont be the only yellow GT on the coast run
Oh yeah and i forgot to say, that songman is correct and taking off the quarter panels requires removal of other panels. He is also correct about it being only 4 days, so if it was me then i would just wait and then i could take my time and do it right the first time and not be rushed to finish it in 4 days. The car looks awesome as is.

Thanks for the advice. The holes are not predrilled on the scoops, nor are they the right size so ive been told. they need to be trimmed and holes need to be made and i have virtually no tools here whatsoever. Im taking her in to a shop tomorrow to have the front left brake fixed, midas did a horrible job and now its rattling. These other guys have already fixed the right side for the same problem. Anyway, its in one of those areas that has a lot of auto mechanics and whatnot, im sure ill have some time because i have no ride so ill take a look around.

I'm in the same situation and I just got a quote for 1500 Euros ($1771) to install, paint-prep and paint the Stage 2's plus my hood (with the Fie Ro style vent). The actual painting is the least of it. Installation and paint-prep drives the cost up if the job is supposed to be perfect. They estimated 5 days for the job.

True, even if the gel coat is perfect, few fiberglass pieces come out of the mold perfect. They are not going to bolt on and look like perfect factory pieces. My body guy is tweaking my integrated rockers to get them on straight, as in refloating the surface to make it perfectly level. I would have just scuffed and painted them, but he wants them to look perfect.
