Folks, an unknown number of PFF members are going to need a LOT of assistance in the coming days, weeks, & months. Some, if not all, will be homeless, jobless, computerless, Fieroless. Some may have health problems. We need to be thinking how we can help, once communication is made.
One of the things we can be thinkng about, is setting up a donation program for them. Your regional clubs may want to set up something at your upcoming shows, as well as maybe CFOG-I seeing if they can do anything, but the bulk of it needs to come from us as individuals. Start thinking about it folks-Please. I have to leave for work now, but Yall knock your heads together today and I hope to see this still on pg 1 when I come home tonight, with a slew of replies and good ideas.

You are right. My wife and I are trying to come up with how we can help out here also. I know how they feel right now and we will be helping as much as we can. To start GIVE BLOOD and a small donation to the red cross would help.

I'm short on ideas, but will contribute what I can if something is set up for our members. In addition to the Red Cross, donations can also be sent to The Salvation Army. Any amount no matter how small adds up, and is at least something. Perhaps for now, this is all we can do as these organizations are in place to provide immediate need to those affected. At this point I find it very frustrating that there seems to be little else I can do.

Edit: If everyone who viewed the Girls With Fiero's Gallery Thread (myself included), and contributed $1 to do so, it would have added up to $70,000. I'm not flaming the thread, so please don't take it that way. I'm just using it as an example.

Some companies (like my employer) match contributions. That automatically doubles your donation! My company is matching employee donations to a maximum of $2,000 per employee.

By my calculations, and knowing the area pretty good, the following should be fine, as their location is either far to the west or far to the north of New Orleans.

davetec Bossier City, Louisiana, USA
FieroMeister Covington, Louisiana, USA
gtluther West Monroe, Louisiana, USA
jaj018 ruston louisiana usa
My 88 Coupe Fort Polk Louisiana
rnoswal Bossier City, Louisiana, USA
rnoswal34 Bossier City, Louisiana, USA
SN1PERVII Gueydan, Louisiana
staryeyed Morgan City, Louisiana

The following are either in harm's way, or location not specific enough.

4.9 PFI FIERO new orleans louisiana
86 FIERO GT Louisiana
95Z28A4 Louisiana, U.S.
Exotic Rida new orleans louisiana **
fiero 4.9 Liter new orleasn louisiana
k-man south louisiana
likesto New Orleans Louisiana
red85fierogt kenner louisiana
SUPERDUTY TT FIERO NEW ORLEANS,LOUISIANA
Zoom88 ***
** He has 'reported in' and is in Ga.
*** I "think" he lives further north, maybe Monroe but not sure.

I think everybody here is chomping at the bit to help so i do not think that will be a problem,.the biggest issue will be finding out information on the status of and getting in contact with those who may be in need and then determining what those needs are.

It is going to be really hard to send someone something if they don't have an address ? Mail will probably be non-existent for a while.

Don't get me wrong it can be done, but this is going to be a challenge. For those who got out, like Exotic Rida, it will be easy to send him things to help, people like Miss Tress and others will be a little more difficult.

I too am anxious to help out in any way i can.

Your calculations are good MJ. Those of us in the Bossier/Shreveport area are fine. Our flooding is mainly due to refugees and FEMA teams. Doing what we can to help here. The scope of this thing is unbelieveable.

I too am anxious to help out in any way i can.

I also am. I have mentiomed in two threads our help needs to be organized. It will be most effective if we do not piecemeal it a little here and a little there, and possibly duplicate some help and miss other needs. I think our help needs a central core such as the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and any other sucessful venue of any kind.
I think we need someone with strong organizational skills with pleanty of time to co-ordinate this. They will need help with organizing and implementing what needs to be done. We need information. We need some volunteers. I have a large amount of time I can free up every other week. The sooner we get the ball rolling the sooner our help will help. Help organizing or I am close enough to drive up and help clean and rebuild physically.
Let,s face it. These guys are gonna need cash, some more than others, some longer than others as jobs have been lost, most likely for awhile. Unfortunately, some members are going to need our help more than others and someone needs to decide who is in the most need as we are not possibly going to make everthing like it was. I think we need a finacial officer to collect of monies. When this is done I have two hundred immediate dollars to donate, equal to my immediate Red Cross donation. If this organization does not happen, I still have twp hundred immediate to help. I wish I knew who needed it the most. At the very least, we need just one designated thread.

Please let all other threads die about the devastation. This is the thread that we need to unite behind. This is the help thread. It has nothing to do with Fieros, only Fiero owners. It belongs in Totally Off Topic.
I have asked and asked and am tired of asking. We need a coordinated effort to help. Not a new post in whatever thread every so often.
I wanted a volunteer as my time may not be sufficient. I have not had one so I appoint myself. I am gonna need some help. I am gonna appoint them also. Speak now or forever hold your peace.
fierogirlsmom, Dar, I am counting on you to oversee me. I am not the best we have for this job.
maryjane, you will be the chief financial officer........all money will be sent to him.
I need fact finders, we need to know who and how to help best. I need information gatherers. Alot of them.
We need groundsmen. Alot of them. All with the abilities in the surrounding areas, report in. We need to get in there.
We need so much more than I can do.
The thing I see that needs to be done most is to let all other threds die. Link to this one.
This is the help thread and it needs to be in one subsection.
PM to Cliff to move it to T/OT

I had been communicating with Zoom 88. He had told me that he was going on vacation before the storm hit. I sent him a p.m. but I have yet to hear from him. Hopefully, his vacation took him out of harm's way. Perhaps we should p.m. and e-mail all the members on the list from the area and let them know we have their backs.

Cliff the way I see it right now, they can mostly use money.
I don't know if you saw, but Exotica Ride lost everything. You can read it in this thread
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/054162.html
He posted his address where he is staying (with family) for now.
I expressed him a money order and Ellen (big red) sent him one too.

Maybe someone with a paypal account (I have one if need be) can collect money and we can disburse it when everyone checks in.
I don't know how you are going to go by need. I guess someone will have to talk to them.

If you are sending money to them.......send it through a money order! That way they can get the cash right away.
If you send a check, who knows if they can cash it and how long it will take.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

Oops missed this thread but started another one based on seeing Cliff's idea in an earlier thread. Check out this thread and let me know what you guys think?

https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/054255.html

Darlene if you want to collect money that is fine by me, we should just probably keep people posted as to where it is going.

Jen

P.S - Definitely not off topic - we need this to be as visible as possible. It is members of our forum - definitely a GFC topic. Cliff I had just started a thread on donating not realizing you also mentioned this idea in here. Let me know what you want to do about it.

I wouldn't mind doing it, and I would keep a record of everything coming in and going out.
It's up to you. I think we would all need to figure out the disbursement plan though.
The $50.00 plan sounds good, and keeping it with in the community now sounds good too.

Let me know!!
