Well finally after 2 years of waiting its finally going into the paint shop. Its getting painted corvette millenium yellow. I got the car when i was 14 years old and now im 16 and its finally getting finished in the next two weeks. Me and my dad are going down tomorow and were going to mount the new 225/40/ZR18's on the new 18 inch motegi racing wheels. It has the intrax lowering springs installed in the car and the rear springs are getting installed with the motor this weekend. Also this weekend its getting 20% tint all the way around. I ordered the tinted quarter windows from doug at the fiero warehouse. It still has to go to the exhaust shop, and the alignment shop at the beginning of next week. And all the panels are gonna be painted and installed by thursday of next week. Me and my dad are leaving Friday night and staying in South Lake Tahoe for the night. Then we are getting up at 6am Saturday morning and driving to Truckee. I will then register the car and start cleaning it up from the 400 mile trip from southern california. Thats my dads truck and trailer. He loves the tiltbed trailer. Check out our custom mobile home axle too The pics are below.

Ummm... well the painter has not given me a final price yet. I told him that "I dont care how much it costs, i just want the paint perfect" he said okay. He's fixing any chip or crack in the panels and how ever much it costs, then thats how much it will be. I didnt save since i was 8 years old to have a cheap paintjob with minor imperfections. I told him i want it perfect and he's gonna do it. I live in a town called ridgecrest. Its about 75 miles north of lancaster or palmdale.
I have really liked the look of the corvette yellow on the fiero and espicially if all the windows on the sides, back and quarter windows are tinted. I cant wait to see it finished at the end of next week. All you GT owners in the Custom class have some tough competiton now

Oh no carte blanche on a paint job
Can't wait to see the pics, my second choice was Yellow for mine but doing it in Black. Also looking forward to the wheels.

Well we got the rims and tires mounted today but as soon as i got to the shop i realized oh no i forgot the camera! So it looks like pics are going to have to wait until tomorow but i definitely will post the pics tomorow. I am also going to stop by the paint shop and take a few pics of the car all primed up. It looks so much better with even just the primer on it.
Soulcrusher- well the motor we only took down to the heads but it did get all new seals and gaskets. Me and my dad did the intake gaskets, the o-ring on the distributor, oil pan gasket, rear main seal, powdercoated intakes and valve covers. The block has been painted gloss black too. The only performance mods i did to the motor was port the exhaust manifolds, and the power pulley. I will take pictures of the motor tomorow too before it goes into the car this weekend.
Delawarefiero- My dads the best! I think he was more excited about it then me He and i both are really looking forward to going to westfest. This is going to be our first show and we didnt think we would have the car ready but it looks like its going to be really close but we should be able to get it finished by Friday night.
I will post alot of new pics tomorow and keep everybody updated.

Heres one of the best pics i forgot i had of the really nice firewall heat shield. This stuff was top notch and it was really easy to install once everything was removed from the firewall.
I hope your paint job turn out well, and you can bet I will be following the progress!
What he said. If you need visual proof, just look at how few pleats are in their round air filter. ( and to think that I used to work for Allied Signal too.) I prefer NAPA Gold, only about $2.00 more.
Okay everybody heres the deal on the Fram oil filter. Thats the oil filter it had on the engine when i bought it. Its only on there so i can paint the motor and then i will replace it with a good one. Lets get one thing strait, I think fram oil filters are crap and i would never put one on any of my cars. Its getting a new Wix filter before its installed into the car. So that ugly orange filter is coming off. Thanks everybody for the great comments and i will keep everybody updated on the progress with lots of pictures.

Geez, look at my garage!!!!! Fiero parts everywhere you look!!!! But he didn't get MY 87 GT in the pics, did he??? Well, I guess it WAS under cover on the other side of the garage....but I do see the ZX10 tailights in the background!!!
I'm proud of my son, his car, and what we are working on to accomplish. I've been saying "This ain't no show car, it's a daily driver" to him for at least a year now, and his response has been to pull off another part, clean, rebuild or replace and paint it. And I have to admit it, the thing is looking downright beautiful, due to his persistence. I honestly can't wait to see the completion.
I turned him on to Fieros when I had a mint marroon 87GT back in 95, and they've been in the family ever since (currently two Formulas, two GTs, and some 4cyls) but it's you people who have really taught him so much.....it's amazing, listening to all he has learned, about the Fiero, and about cars in general, just being here on PFF. This is like his second home, and I truly want to thank everyone who has helped him over the past couple of years. I get to hear all the time about the most amazing cars, here on PFF, and they are truly works of art.
WestFest in Truckee is going to be our first Fiero outing, and I'm looking forward to meeting the people behind these totally awesome cars I've been hearing about for two years now. Sadly, much to our disappointment, it looks like we get blindsided by the painter, who has decided that it really is not that important if our car is ready for the show or not. And of course, it's mostly my fault for not getting on the ball and making sure he had it in plenty of time, to get it done. Well, there's always next year for the little yellow fireball. We're sorry to have to leave it behind, but hey, the show must go on, right???? So we'll have to make the trip in my trusty 100 dollar beater, the red Formula. But I'm sure you'll be seeing the completion pics, right here at home. Later!!!

I do have a dumb question though. I always thought that painters had to paint everything at once so everything was consistent ?
He is going to finish the other panels a week later ? Don't get me wrong i am no paint guru, i had just heard this somewhere before and am just curious if it is true ?
About painting the panels at different times. The paint will all look consistent and perfect if the painter only uses the paint that was mixed at one time. I bought a whole gallon when i purchased the paint and supplies so theres more than enough base coat to paint the entire car and still have at least a quart left over for touchups and future modifications. You only have the chance of running into inconsistencys in the paint when you get the base mixed up and then you get more paint mixed up at a diffrent time. Even though the paint is the same code, the paint shop mixing up the base might get it just a tad off on one of the colors and then you can have some problems. But i am using the best paint shop in my area and he is perfect on his mixing and he probably would get two different times of mixing a certain code of paint and the paint would be exactly the same. So hopefully that answers your question.
The firewall heat shield I got from FieroX. He was selling them at one time and i dont know if he is still selling them but it was only 35 dolllars. This heat shield is top notch and his was already precut and it fit perfect. I definitely recommend him and his work, quality to anyone.
Well finally a update on the progress. Today we got the suspension completely finished and got the motor completely done. Now all there is left to to is a smog check, muffler shop, alignment, and the reinstallation of all the body panels. The pics are below. I still need to get some of the suspension though.

Thanks Cali kid. Yeah it has been a really good project for me and my dad. Just a little over 2 years ago me and him flew back to Daytona beach and picked it up and drove it home. Now its almost finally finished
it looks dope man... i remember me and my dad would work on my 86 GT back when i had it... good times. now i regret selling it. hopefully when i get more money, i'll buy another GT . I like the paint job, came out nice
Yes i got the rounded trim moulding painted all yellow too. I thinks it makes the car more modern looking without that black strip going around the middle. Of course though black mouldings do look good too. California kids looks awesome for example with the black moulding. Its all personal preference i guess.
