At 9:00 AM the start is scheduled. We will be swapping the engines from an 87 notchback to an 87 GT. We will be posting pictures as it happens today (almost up to the minute but not quite). I'm sure Darius will have some colorful dialogue to go along with the pictures. Here is the donor car...

Going back under.

Hooking up the shock tower.

Back down on the wheels (you think they should have put on that new heater hose before the engine was in?).

Nice job, guys...and what an excellent project to do as a club! And, as a bonus...you've probably got yourself a new member out of the deal, too....I'd make him join as part of the "swap" cost..

Less than 10 hrs later it is backed out of the garage under it's own power.

Here is a happy camper going on his 1st drive around the block.

All that is left is to put on the trunk and burp the cooling system.

Looks great! You guys just need to be able to do different engine swaps that fast and you could start making money! "I'd like a 4.9 please"

Well here it is, 12 hrs from when we started and I am all alone. Grant, his dad, and the rest of the crew have gone. They helped make things look like nothing happened here today (except my garage floor got power washed). As they would say in the small town newspapers in South Dakota, "A good time was had by all!".

Here is the car being DRIVEN onto the trailer for the haul back to Clorado Springs (not registered yet).

Happy dad and son.

My garage back to normal (if you can call this normal).

Time for another cold one

We made it back to the springs in 3 Hours, including a stop for food and to fix a light on the trailer. Thanks to everybody who helped on the project. I don't think that I could thank you enough. Wayne, Thanks for the space to work and all your ideas for getting this done quick, and for spending all that time to come pick up one of the cars for me. I learned more than I thought was possible in one day, you guys put any teacher I have ever had to shame. I had a great time and can't wait to go for a cruise with everybody soon. If you guys ever need anything let me know and I will be there to help.
Thanks again,
Grant
