As a supporting club member, I feel it is important to pass along the info I got from the Club Chairman: Fred Bartemeyer (RAREW66)...

Awards Plaques: Best Stock 4 Cylinder Coupe Best Stock 6 Cylinder Coupe Best Stock Fastback GT Best Semi-Custom Best Custom Best Modified Best in Show Stock Fiero Best in Show Custom or Modified Fiero Highest Mileage Appreciation Plaque to the Village of East Davenport
I have come up with the idea of having a very informal cook-out at my house on Saturday night as a hospitality gesture to the out of town participants that might be staying in Davenport. I have a full service grocery store three blocks for the house. Is there any of my members that might have some interest in this? I figure on taking the total costs involved and dividing it among the number of people that participate. Let me know if you are interested.
Well, with my short attention span, this is all I can think of for now. Please respond if you have anything to add or comment on.
I plan on helping out with this event as much as possible. I have heard that there will be LT1, 4.9 caddy, and possibly a Northstar and 3.4 DOHC swapped Fieros attending in addition to my 3800 Turbo Fiero to satisfy those of you who are interested in engine swaps along with some very nice looking stock class Fieros if that is what you are interested in. I hope to see many Fieros attend and please pass the word along. Hope to see you all there!
Ryan

Nancy and I are planning on attending. Bringing the Red 88 GT. The cookout sounds fun. Already got rooms but at the Heartland Inn. Looking forward to the show.

Just another note that might help convince the wives of the fiero community the show is in the village of east Davenport and it is a little touristy area with lots of local artisans and antique shops, soap shops, candy shops, etc. It is quite neat to stroll through and each shop is just a little different than the next. Also if the wives aren't into that there are several riverboat casinos not far off. If you are a true shopper there is just enough room in the fiero for a few paintings and statues or something!

I have made up some easy directions for participants that are coming from out of town.
From I-80 East or West Exit 298 (I-74) 4 miles to Exit 4 ( Follow signs for US 67 South from Exit 4) .8 mile Right on Grant Street (One Way) merges in to River Drive 1.7 miles right on to Mound Street * .1 mile right on to 11th street .1 mile left on to Christie Street
*Host Hotel Directions Instead of turning right on Mound, continue on River Drive 1.3 miles to E. 2nd Street. Huge Lighted Clarion Sign on side of building, can't miss it.
From the response I have received, it looks like at least 25 cars will be coming.
Any questions, please contact me,

It is the Village of East Davenport. Use 52803 for a zip code. I posted directions further up in the post. E-mail me if you need more assistance. Jim Hallman is coming down on Friday if you would like to caravan with him.

Fred, Not sure if I will make it yet. Just getting the info together. Is the Police Dept over there like Barney Fife or should I bring a radar detector and crimped aluminum foil in the hubcaps?

Marty, the police presence around here seems to be non-existant most of the time but just to be on the safe side as long as you stay with traffic flow you should be ok. Just watch your speed in the neighborhoods because that is the one thing they have been cracking down on lately. As far as the interstate is concerned, again as long as you are NOT flying past other people and just cruising along with the bulk of the traffic the fuzz won't give you much hassle.
The village of east Davenport is really just a part of Davenport, it's close to the river and there is a bike trail right there too. Should be lots of fun!!! See you soon. Heather
Ryan, I usually drive like an old lady unless I see "staging" and "prestaging" lights. Hopefully, I'lle be ok going to east Davenport. Heather, East Davenport does sound like the perfect community, but does it also have some serious businesses? Ya know, wrecking yards, machine shops, night clubs, breweries, oh and donuts shops? Fred, Is Illinois 88 a fairly direct route into Davenport? or is 80 faster? thanks to all of you
This sounds like fun! If my current fiero is all together i will show it but no matter what i am comin to check out the fiero's, and dont worry about the police, as long as you arent doing 20 over your gonna be fine (personal experiences....)

Fred is out of town until tomar so I don't think he would mind if I answered this for him. I don't know about Illinois 88 but I know both Interstate 88 and 80 from chicago run straight to Davenport. I-80 does have some construction tho so expect about 40 total miles between chicago and davenport to be down to 1 lane each direction due to this road work. I am not aware of any construction on I-88 as I have not traved it for about a year.
East Davenport has a few bars and such but like I said you drive about a mile down river drive either way (towards Bettendorf or towards Davenport) and you will be in plenty of "industry and casino land".
Just another note: Fred said something about getting the local chocolate shop/luncheon restaurant Lagomarcino's to give us a lunch special that day. Or there are a few other decent restaurants in that area, my personal favorite is the Boat House with a beautiful view of the mississippi and is litterally four feet from train tracks so you can watch the trains go by, but you don't hardly hear them because the flood walls are so thick.

I'm going to be there, hope to see everyone there.
So Dave, if you show up to our cook-out after the show, should I cancel our trip to Sam's Club and just have a cow slaughtered?? Or should I warn the Taco Bell down the street that you are in town.

I am glad to hear you are coming down.

There's a Taco Bell down the road??? Fred, you just made my day hearing that! You'll probably find me there on friday night ordering a number 9 with a couple extra soft shells along with it. The cookout; should have little or no leftovers. Definitely looking forward to your first show. I know Jim, Rich, Paul, and their better halfs are all comeing too.

Well I guess I'm the first one to get home.......I skipped the cookout, really would have loved to stayed but I had to get home {going to the motorcycle TT races tomorrow} It was Great Day and Great Show, for a first show. I'm thinking 40 to 50 cars, from at least 8 states. Sorry no pictures from me , but I'm sure others will post some. I had a great time and the drive there and back was a lot of fun. Thanks Fred, Larry and everyone else for a great time...........
