The other day I called up erson to get another cam ground specifically for my turbo project. I was talking to the head guy down there and I told him what engine I had and what i was doing and he asked me what car the engine was in. I told him an 87 fiero, but the engine came out of a 97 grand prix. he says "Is this fieroX by any chance", and i said "yeah, how did you know". he says "we have a fiero guy here at the shop and he told us about your website and weve got everyone in here checking out your project on your website". I thought that was really cool. So I talked to Steve for awhile and we talked cam specs, he decided that hes going to call Kenny Dutweiller and tell him about my project and theyre going to design my cam for me. Then I asked him if he wanted to sponsor my car, and he said "Sure, we'll grind it for free no problem". So, im gonna try and get in good with Erson and get some new cams for 3800's out on the market. This is gonna be cool.

So whos the fiero guy that works at erson?

Grasshopper, always feed oil to the top-end... (could be before your time)

Good job on the sponsorship & make them proud! Now you have get out of the car after every run and get in front of the mic and say, "I want to thank Erson for their awesome cams cause "we" couldn't run that strong w/o em."

at the end of my runs, there isnt a mic. Only a bunch of people staring and pointing with drool coming out of their mouths.

I told Steve that Id put a plug for them on my website though. and Ill probably sport a small sticker in my back window or bottom of my decklid or something

Congrats X. Having secured a few small sponsors myself (obviously no where near as big as yours) for the show we are going to, I know how cool it is to get one.
>looks around forum<
I wonder where those other few members who are in my thread claiming how bad it is to ask for sponsorhsip are?

Anyway, keep us updated X

Steve

The difference here assmunch.. is that X went to a vender that he was ALREADY doing business with.. that vendor ALREADY had interest in his project. That vendor ALREADY was prepared to do work with/for X..

You on the other hand.. sent out a blanket beg for money to anyone that would possibly fall for it.

hrmmm.. good lord, this looks so familiar..

Let's just cut to the chase.. you should sign up here http://donatemoney2me.com/ and call it a day.

We all have hard times.. we all have things that we want to do that we can't. You have money problems.. sell one of your friggin cars. That's what I'm doing. Difference is, I'm selling my car to put food on the table for my kids.. not to try to impress some judge that you have never met for some ghey trophy to put on a friggin mantle.

You now rate about 6 inches lower than pond scum on my scale.

Note: the views and opinions expressed here are mine.. and if you don't like 'em.. bite me.

I hope that you aren't calling Fiero X pondscum. I think I read that right that you weren't but man, datacop, that seems to be a touchy subject.

When Fiero Motorsports was in business Keith "Fiero Doc" Huff got cams from Babe Erson. I went there to pick up my cam years and years ago and was very pleased with that mild cam they made for my 2.8. I could be wrong, but they may have done the cam on John Parenti's green 3800 when he was having that built.

Congratulations, it would be nice to hear some lopping 3800s out there! I wonder how well the Superchargers will like them!

Nope.. Not addressing X at all.. matter of fact.. much Kudo's to him on gaining and earning sponsor ship.

I have nothing against sponsorship.. more often than not, it's a mutually benificial arrangement between a manufacture/vendor and a builder/team. It's everywhere.. look at any major race on TV, the cars are totally covered with sponsorships. As it should be.

It's hard for anyone to build a $250,000 automobile from their own pocket.. let alone 3 or 4 for differant track conditions.

No, What X did was gain a sponsor through a vendor by actually dealing with that vendor.. and come to a mutually benificial arrangement. It's good for X cause he gets a good cam. It's good for erson beause they get a test bed for the 3800 engine.

With Steve, well... that's a whole differant story that I've already said my peace on.

Wow, bite me? Geeze, I haven't heard that childish expression since grade school. Dude, you even potty trained yet? I might consider it except that first I would have to lower myself to your level, and then have to touch something that I would rather not.

Good job on the sponsor. Hurry up and get a cam made for me!!

On a side note, are you covered in gas? Flames just seem to follow your threads. Between you and Archie, you've seen enough flames to make the rear of a Fiero look like a campfire. You should get a fire extinguisher. Good threads get ruined by flames. ( I know there are a few "bad" threads that needed to get ruined )

usually flame wars in my threads start when I bash V8's or whatever, but in this case its not me thats starting the trash talking. I must be getting more mature. I usually skip over the flame posts, and read on to the next, I really didnt even notice what was going on until i re-read the thread. Oh well, noboby can burst my bubble. Or buble as DELAM boy would say. Anyway, I got my engine taken back out again. Got a bunch of stuff cleaned up in the engine compartment, and this will give me a chance to get my cradle and everything all detailed, and get the cv boot grease cleaned off the tranny, and everything. Should look brand new when its all re-installed. Hoping to have the engine all pulled apart tomorrow and see what all damage is inside.

On a side note, i called erson today. Should have my cam in 13 days. Thats going to put me a bit behind schedule, but I think im gonna put everything back together, and install the cam once its all back in the car. Im still hoping to have it on the power tour, and still shooting for all painted by wheatstock. Cross fingers everyone
