Well, my Dad and I just got back from the FOCONE Rutland show. John (johneboy) is from PA and he took a bus up here with a friend to drive back the black 86 GT that he purchased from my son. They rode a bus all day Thursday to come up here, then stayed overnight so the next morning they could go to the local DMV and get temp plates to drive it back home. Unfortunately, on the way back home the GT has apparently broken down in Poughkeepsie NY. He said he only made it about half way home. Below is the last e-mail we got back from him yesterday afternoon: --------- Yea.. Battery died.. New battery worked for 5 min. Then loud knock.. Then dead. They are gonna check to make sure tomorrow...
John ----------
I haven't heard from him since. I called him on his cell phone late yesterday evening and then my Dad called him as well, as we tried to help figure out what it might be, and hoping it isn't anything major. He said he would either call or e-mail me today to let us know what the status was. As we haven't heard anything I do not know if it turned out to be something simple or if it was a major problem.
I thought he might even get access to a computer at some point and post on here maybe, but I guess not.
I am going to try and call him again in a few.

Sorry man I have no dolly or u-haul truck. Just a couple of manuels, basic tools, and limited experience I have working on my '86 gt. I wish there was somthing I could do....I am useless.
What he needs first and foremost is a safe harbor for the car, that gives him the time to work out some other options. Does anyone in the area or within reasonable towing distance have some space where he can put the car while he works out what to do next?

It's threads like this that make me proud to call myself a member of this forum. I've had the exact same thing happen to me only closer to home (75 miles). Even though it had been a year since I purchased the car, the previous owner was nice enough to loan me his dolly so I could get the car back home the next day.
Heck, I might even have to modify my opinion of ya'll north of the Mason-Dixon line.
Good luck John I know what your facing when you get it home. See Sig.

I can loan a trailer if nothing else comes up but I am in VA near DC. If I were closer I would definatly give ya a tow. I have been stranded enough times to understand. AAA also offers an upgraded member ship which includes 100 miles of towing per incident. I have utalized this a few times now. Completly worth it.

Well it looks like i have a friend of a friend who will tow it back home for me for a lil less then the other options. I just want to thank everyone here for being supportive. Once i get it home, be prepared for my million and a half posts in the tech section
