Yep, I will be doing the same thing. 3m works great, I am using their super 77, or medium stick version. It has worked great on my speaker box, and should do the same on the covers also. Good luck.

I used rubber cement around the edges, left the center section unglued just like stock. I glued one section at a time, first stretching it lengthwise, gluing, then stretching it widthwise and gluing. That leaves the corners for last, and some trimming when you're done. I've had the rubber cement on mine for two years now and they look like the day I did it!

When I did mine, I used a hot glue gun to stick the fabric down around the back edge of the frame like stock. Came out looking great...

I just finished doing mine tonight and when I started, I had no idea what to use. The only thing I could find laying around was super glue, so I tried a little corner first. It stuck pretty well, so I did the stretching method one side at a time. They came out pretty well and hopefully the glue will stick. I can post some pics tomorrow if I remember.

I was not happy with superglue. It can wick up the sides of the cloth and I found it harder to work with. I considered using the 3M spray; but never tried it. I found the hot glue to work great. Did a number of cars with it and have not had a bit of trouble in more than 5 years.

The spay adhesive works great. one thing I was worried about was it bleeding thru the cloth, the trick is to spray it and let it et for a minute to get tacky then it won't bleed thru.
