yeah, you've probably already seen this, but can you believe that some retard technician would beat on a customer's car then be stupid enough to BRAG about it on the internet? just so happens that the owner's husband was a member and they found out, kid lost his job and most likely his life. good riddance...
Banner... ARE you seriuos??...hahahahahahahahah!!! Sorry about your brothers car,but I am having a shi++y day at work, and that made my day!! I can picture that stupid a-hole going 110 and crashing! stupid grease monkey! That'll teach him!! Man,some peoples kids! -MW
That is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen on the 'net, and I've been on it for nearly fifteen years. The first four pages are about the situation, the rest are all the people from EVERY OTHER INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD IMAGINABLE chiming in to offer their support, including the Aquatic Fish and Metallica boards. We have another Internet Phenomenon on our hands!

And to top it off, the dealer wouldn't replace it!!
Holy crap.. I would sue the crap out of them.. thats complete BS!
Yep, just as the others said. BBS, wasn't called the Internet back then, but it was. My oldest brother was on the net in 1983 using a commodore 64 with a huge modem that was like as big as a VCR. Yeah! I was too little to know too much. Believe it or not, but the service he used back then was Compuserve, which is still around (I think)
Aww! The Green and Amber screens. We have come a long way since then.

Okay, time for a short History of Technology lesson. Actually it was 1986 when I first got online, and it was with a 300bps modem on a TRS-80. Back then networked BBSes (Fidonet) had access to Usenet through UUCP gateways. In the mid-'80s, Fidonet was actually much larger than the Internet as it existed then, because it was so much less expensive to operate a Fidonet node than an Internet node. Usenet was early subscription-distribution technology, but the data lived on servers instead of clients like a mailing list. It still exists but is now mostly for ****. Once they figured out how to send images inside a broadcast text message it was all downhill.
Most people think that the Internet didn't exist before 1994 when HTML created the World Wide Web, but that was just when the Internet got a pretty face. In fact, it has existed since the 1960's, but only in R&D between gov agencies & edu institutions. In 1991 I jumped from BBSes to using SL/IP to connect to the net while comp-sci guys at Clarkson were still revising the spec, which later evolved into PPP. But other than e-mail, telnet, ftp and Usenet there wasn't as much to do back then.
Here are some more of the boards that have chimed in:
Honestly I will never take my dodge to a dealership service center again. I worked at mitsubishi for about two weeks last month got hired as someone called a Porter i park and align all there cars correctly and wash them and fuel them up and such. Got to fuel up a 2000 dodge viper gts bye the way. but i didn't go speeding in it thats just asking for it and it wasn't MY car if someone did that to my car. which acctuly someone did. id be pissed but the porters and tecnichs where complete assholes. I was told to go fuel up the viper becuse we where going to sell it. and one of the salemen outa the blue said here all drive to me. cuss he obvisly wanted to drive it. i got in the passenger side and told him to be carfull cuss the gas is really touchy. we pull out all nice and slow he gets around the corner we are already doing like 40 and he puts in i think it was 3rd gear and stomps it and we do a burnout already going 40 and he takes a side road threw a naigborhood and screems around the corners at 90 mph i thought i was gonna die! oh also some guy brought in a dodge caravan cuss his key wouldn't open the lock. (it was a seppret key). the sales manager went into the back i was with him. had him shove a flat head screw driver in it twisted it around tell it broke on the inside then told the man it needed a new locking mecinism and he had to have it made to fit his key and would be normaly 80 bucks. which it isn't but he would help him out and do it for only 45. and what hurt me alot was that the guy left feeling taken care of and Happy! I didn't say anything to the man but me and my friend Gabe quit working there. which is why it only lasted a few weeks. and unfortunitly me being the dumbass i am I still had the gas card in my pocket when i quit me and gabe walked out on them saturday after they scratched some dudes car then coverd it with this wax sorta stuff. and when i was at the gas station to fill up i relized i still had the gas card and being bitter i made a dumb choice and used it to fill up my gas cuss I had to go get all the sales people lunch on my break about 8 miles away at bosten market on MY time with MY car and MY gas. so i used it to fill my tank. I got cought tho cuss the manger had just stoped by to fuel up a car and he went off on me. lol i made a dumb choice. i felt like i was owed that stuff but stealing the gas in no way justified my actions. but anyways yea i know alota dealers with alota porters and all of them abuse cthe nice sports cars and rip u off no matter what car. thank god we have fieros! we gota do are own work!

Well I can see some dealers might be that way. But to label "all" Technicians and Mechanics as "Stupid grease monkeys" is pretty damn harsh.....
As a Mercedes Benz Tech, i see other peoples cars driven every day, and for the most part i can say that our tech's drive no harder than required to verify the customers complaint. What transpired at that Ford dealership was what i would think of as a rare thing to have happen and was caused by complete imature children just out of school. Most dealerships have fairly responsible mature tech's.... Although, I would also agree that alot of car dealers are thieves in many ways.....
