Recently I got this email from someone living here in town (Edmonton, Alberta (Canada))...thought the rest of you might be interested in this.

enjoy,
Tim

ps >> I will try and get a bunch more pictures.

>>>>
Gentlemen:

Recently we completed a restoration of a Fiero race car built by Huffaker Engineering of California, the GM contractor for racing Fieros 1985-87. This car is serial no. 009 from 1987. It has a tube frame according to the Pontiac Motorsports drawings, and Huffaker-engineered inline gearbox layout with Hewland DGB 201 and a 90 degree Chevy V6 of 4500 cc/475 hp. Huffaker sent it to the Caribbean when new; I bought it from the owner in Puerto Rico, a radiologist, a few years ago. It had done only two races from new. We expect to race it in Calgary June 22-23, at the Edmonton Namao airport sports car races in mid-July and at the Molson Indy Vancouver sports car race July 28.

Regards,
Jack Ondrack

Geez, who was it wanted to know if a bored 4.3L would be worth doing. Well there is your answer 475hp.

Funny, I thought Huffaker only built them with SD4's? 4.3L engines were not around until the early 90's. Or am I missing something here? Good find though.

It might be a GMPP Buick race block. Technically they're sold as Chevy's.

If it is, do they still sell them? Does anyone have any info on the block? (will it bolt to a Fiero trans??)

After doing a bit of reasearch, it seems to be based a GM Bow Tie block.
Apparantly 4.3's have been around since the late 70's, who'd knew.

Here's a pdf of a 90degree v6 catalog http://www.johnthornton.com/catalog/121-133.pdf

My Son worked for Huffaker a few summers ago and he remembers seeing some Fiero Jigs and lots of other stuff in their shop in storage.

Think he will trade?

I think I remember a weblink/ebay a couple years back of someone trying to sell a race fiero out of Puerto Rico. They were asking $60,000 I think, wonder if this is the one?

This is a hella sweet car! It has a FANTASTIC look!
