Hey guys. Well, I got word from the courthouse today, and they said that I won my case! So, that's 1 for me; 0 for the lying corksooker. AND, it's $2783.10 for me; -$2783.10 for him. I'm a little excited, to say the least. I've already got all the parts paid for, so I just need to find something to use it on. I plan on paying a paint guy $1000 to paint it (I'll do all the prep), so I figure I have $1800 left. $450 for Mr. Mikes. $150 for tint. $1200 left. I'm thinking nitrous now. I've always wanted it, so now's a good time. The rest goes in the bank for FULL COVERAGE insurance. If I had it, the car would have been fixed by now. Oh well. Sorry for being so damn happy. I'll go back to my normal self soon.

Well, it's for the guy that came through the parking lot and ripped the rear end of my Fiero off. So I did have a reason. He had no license, a horse-sh*t story, etc.
Ya chop, I know what you mean. I dont think thats right either. If you win a court case, I think the court should 'MAKE' them pay or go to jail myself. If you do win, here anyway, you have to file a judgement against them to attach their paycheck or take owned property to get your winnings. So if he dont pay up, you have to take the sherrif with you to confiscate stuff. I hope it works out for you, I hate lowlifes that wont pay up when they screw your car up. Its happened to me too. A guy ran into my Mercedes in a parking lot in front of 100 witnesses, and I never saw a dime. My insurance covered it, but I had to pay the deductible.
I'm sure you guys forgot about it and care no longer, but I thought I'd tell you anyway. I guess the guy has until December 5th to appeal his case. If he doesn't, I get to collect my settlement. After December 5th, we send the court papers to his insurance company, to let them know that we won. AND, either he pays, or his insurance does. We called the MN state insurance commissioner, and she said that the insurance company will have to pay no matter what, as they did not follow procedure. I guess they need to ask ME what happened too and not just believe the other guy. So I'll have to wait until December 5th and see. Thanks for all the help though.

I think I've been a pretty good buy this year. I would love to see a set up Mr. Mikes under my tree. Is there any certain guy out there who has a load of cash won from a settlement who is kind enough to bring happiness to me this christmas??
Well, I have the final chapter in this mess of a story. A guy from State Farm called, and said that we need to send him the letter w/ the ruling on it tomorrow, and he'll cut us a check. So, it will be three months and three days, and it will all be over. Thanks a lot for all the help and advice. I really appreciate it.

How come you can't get paid from him? We had the option to take money out of the guy's wages if we wanted. I don't think I could have waited a year and a half. That's not right. So you have to pay to get to court, take off work/school, win, and not get a damn thing. Sorry to hear that. Hope you can find a way to get it from the bastard.

happy days for me too. I just got called by State Farm (coincidence) that they sued the guy for what my car cost to repair. Theyd paid me less the deductible. They just sent me a check for the deductible refund .....after 3 years and 3 months.
Good for you! What was that for? Your Mercedes? No offense to anyone, but State Farm sucks. Unless you have it, then you can't get in trouble for a damn thing. The guy had no license, but it didn't matter. I should get that instead!

You can go to court all you want out here, you can get a million billion dollars awarded to you. (But you never actually get it...) It's just "feel good" money.

The guy was self-employed and was so far in debt anyway... the only thing I could do was basically reposesses his Fiero or something. Anyway, basically the court kept sending me letters to give them more and more money and I couldn't deal with it, so I pretty much said, "screw you guys".
