The cables that hold my lid from slamming into the back window broke a long time ago. Now thanks to Voytek I'm the proud owner of a gas shock that holds the lid in place. He picked one up for me at the wrecker which came off a Cadillac. It works REALLY well!

Hey! Looks good! It's too bad I didn't get to spend much time at the meeting last night, so I didn't notice (unless you put those on today).

On a side note, I bought a blacklight from Wal-Mart, and the gauges I was telling you about. They'll be installed by the Red Deer run, so (if you're going) you'll get to see 'em then!

Cool! I'll be there so I'll see it then.

I just installed the shock today so that's why you didn't see it. Take it easy man.

That's a pretty cool idea. I hate the way my decklid jumps up when I open it from inside the car. Makes the whole car shake. How long did the install take?

Cool...I got mine off a 84 Buick Regal front hood, I mounted mine the other way. Here is a shot for you to see what it would look like.

It takes about ten minutes if you have the right bolt size. You just need longer ones to allow the thickness of the shock to fit in between. I shimmed mine up with washers as well to keep the alignment fairly straight. Very quick and easy.

Al: The total length compressed is about 8.5" and extended is about 13". I'm not sure which Cadillac but Voytek probably knows. It doesn't really matter which car it came from just the length.
