Yesterday, Saturday August 18, was the 8th annual Twin State Cruisers Lebanon NH Auto show.
The Fiero class had a pretty good turnout, considering that the Fiero Dutch Classic II was the same day. We had an interesting morning to say the least. I was quickly finishing up Marians "new" side sail scoop that was sent by a very, very generous man from Florida, John Webb, owner of Webb's Creative Lamination Works. Then after Rob &
Renee' arrived and we all had coffee and breakfast snacks, we went to fire up the beasts. My Fiero1 refused to start, even after pushing it all over the yard and popping the clutch. I jumped in Fiero9 instead and off we went. Then our son Stephens pierce lyme green with purple
trim 85GT's starter decided to die a quick death as we were parked to wash the cars in the morning on the way to the show. He ended up being pushed back home by his personal repairman, Grandpa. After my Dad got him pushed back home, he then traded back the VW Golf for his 87GT once again and went back to the show grounds. I ended going back home also, as my son had to work at 3, so he had to have a car to drive. I tried Fiero1 one more time, and finally she roared to life. I told him he could take Fiero9 to the show if he wanted, but as we all know that isn't the same thing. I left Stephen with Fiero9 and blasted off in my white 84SE. I quickly hit the car wash, stopped at the AtoZoneheads for rags as I forgot mine in Fiero9 and was off to the show.
The day was beautiful, as it stayed cloudy so we all didn't bake in the sun. I was able to take regular pictures as well as Digital video footage of the day.
We had many, many admirers of our Fieros. All the Fiero class participants spent alot of the day talking to onlookers and answering
questions. V8 Andy showed up to say hi and visit with his fellow Fiero brothers and sisters, but without his V8Fiero. He had just had back surgery and his wife Diane was very pregnant. He had taken 2nd place last year with his platinum painted "OURUFO" V8 Fiero growling monster. After a fun morning, the afternoon opened to everyone getting ready for the trophy announcements.
The longest distance award went to Phil Randolph, waite a minute.... there is some discussion in the crowd from Phil over to Jody Lemos sitting near by. Phil is protesting the decision of being the winner. Phil thinks Jody should get it, as he is a further distance. The judges over hearing this huddle and recheck there paperwork. So it is, Jody wins the longest distance trophy. Then the various classes are announced with their respective third, second and first place award winners.
Then we reach the famous "Q class - The Fiero class. The crowdhushes, the birds stop chirping, the cars driving around the park stop (well maybe not).
The loud speaker blares out the winner: Third place with his red 86 GT, Jody Lemos!! The crowd roars with approval. Then second place...the crowd is hushed once more. The loud speaker announces: With his yellow 3800
supercharged Formula, Phil Randolph!! The crowd chears it's approval once again.
Then, a drum roll starts and the crowd is looking restless. You can hear the faint wispers as everyone is wondering, who will take the top honors in this great class.
Finally, the loud speaker announces: First
place goes to the owners of the black 86 GT, Rob & Renee' Dabrowski.
The trumpets sound, the crowd chears, and all is good in the world.
The cookout at our place went great. Everyone had a good time. We even got a picture of Phil's multi-colored ketchup creation. It was
getting late, so some of the crew hit the long road for home, smiling all the way I am sure from such a great day. Not too long after some of the crew had left, Andy and Lisa Virzi, in the Chief, with Craig (don't know your last name?) in his black 84 arrived at the cookout and more pictures were taken
and the good times rolled on.
Congrats to Rob & Renee', Phil and Gwen and Jody and Doris for your well deserved wins. Many thanks also go out to each and every one of you who took time out of your day to come to a little place called Lebanon NH and a pretty cool car show.
Thanks everyone,
The Kelley's
