I'd heard about people using these VW exhaust gaskets for the V6 engine and decided to look some up.
I found these copper ones with the 1-5/8" hole that people were recommending. (4 in a package)

It's only once I got them that I noticed the stock exhaust gasket and heads only have a 1-1/2" outlet anyway.
1-1/2" rings also available - could have also used those. All installed - no leaks. YAY!!

California Import Parts (separate websites for Canada and US customers) http://www.cip1.com/
Canadians won't be "importing" from the Langley B.C. store...

It's not the cost of the part, it's the shipping to Canada that will knock you off your feet.

Ain't that the truth!

Fortunately, I live close enough to the border to have other options.

By the way Tony, have you or any other PFF members from the Calgary area been flooded out? What a mess, eh!

The flooding in the city is downtown - mostly office and apartment towers there.
I'm 5 miles and 100 feet above where the water is now, way beyond any danger because my entire suburban area is on a ridge above the river valley.
Everyone else I know of did not live in any of the flooded areas as far as I can tell.

... and thank you for your concern.

If you have a Meyers auto parts in town they stock the VW gaskets on the self, but they want like $0.80 a peice.

I tried copper ones like that, and they are too soft, got hot and let my manifold warp and twist.
(even though I have locking header bolts, the bolts didn't turn to lossen, the gasket compressed way too much when it got hot)

That being said I do like the VW steel ones in the pic above.

Would this type need a RTV or any other sealant?

I'm a little new at this. I have an exhaust leak from probably a loose or sheard manifold bolt. Are these the gaskets that should be used as a replacement??

No sealant is used. I converted to studs and lock nuts though. You hang the gaskets on the studs then mount the manifold.

They can certainly be used as a replacement. Just depends on how much work you want to do. Have you ported your exhaust manifolds? Are they warped? Is the bolt broken or loose? Lots of things to think about.
