This grill was very time consuming! I won't be making more but here's what I did for those interested in making there own.
1. Buy 1/2 inch aluminum stock at your local hardware store or lumber yard. Purchase enough to cut four 25 5/8 inch pieces.
2. Clamp them together in a vise and drill five 3/16 holes. One in the middle and then two on each side spaced evenly.
3. Buy and glue 15 round plastic spacers matching with the holes to 3 of the pieces. Here are some pics to give you the idea.

Insert and glue nuts into the last piece.

Now lay one piece in front of the scoop where you want it and mark holes to be drilled with a black marker. Drill holes in the decklid and purchase the proper length bolts with right pitch for the nuts. Carefully pass bolts with washers and lock washers through the holes from bottom of decklid and through your painted aluminum pieces until they're thread into top piece with the nuts.

Maybe Cliff could move this into the "how to" zone if he sees fit
