I will soon be swapping out an Auto. trans. pedal assembly with a Manual trans. pedal assembly going in.

Is it a straight forward Remove and Replace procedure for just pedal assembly alone?

Thanks for the help.

The one time I tried to remove the entire pedal assembly I found that a huge wire bundle was woven through the bracket so the assembly couldn't be removed without cutting the bundle. Instead, what I did was simply remove the automatic brake pedal pivot bolt, then the pedal, and then slipped the manual brake pedal into place. It won't stay there by itself because the brake pivot bolt is shared with the clutch pivot bolt on the manual assembly, so next, I unbolted the clutch pedal and bracket from the manual pedal assembly and bolted it onto the side of the automatic pedal bracket while still in the car. You'll need to use the long pivot bolt from the manual pedal assembly since the one you'll remove from the automatic pedal will be too short.

Here are a few pics of what I mean. The orange bracket in these photos is the clutch pedal bracket that simply bolts onto the side of the brake pedal bracket.

for me - getting at the pedals was the toughest part of my auto to manual swap.
yes, the actual bolting & swapping is straightforward - just the access to it is no fun at all.
I basicly ended up on laying on the drivers seat backwards.

A little more work, but much easier to do IF you spend the 20 minutes needed to remove
the cluster and dash. Did that with the Indy - much easier to see what you're doing.

Spending the few minutes to pull the driver's seat also helps.

Sure - you don't have to do all that, but you'll spend the same amount of time cursing otherwise.

I, like blooze, found it was easier to leave the bracket that supports the brake pedal assembly in place, just remove the long pivot bolt, attach the clutch pedal bracket to the side of the brake pedal support with a couple of bolts, and slide the longer pivot bolt all the way through, also replacing the brake pedal in the process. That darn wire bundle is what makes it difficult to remove the whole pedal assembly!

I replaced the whole assembly, it was a PITA. I ended up taking the tape off from around that wire loom that is in the way and fed the wires by one by one. But taking out the steering column and gauge cluster helps too. I'm assuming your also replacing your shifter so most likely have the skeleton off? If so, taking the whole dash out only takes 15 or so minutes and makes getting at things much easier.

I gutted my ENTIRE car, and then put everything back piece by piece... but I wanted to make sure that every wiring ground was clean, everything that moved was greased, etc...
