The Fiero stayed with the pintle style injectors in 88 even though GM used disc type in other engines.
From P-22 parts manual November 1990 - Section 3.300 85-88 P (2.8)............. 17111297 Injector kit, Fuel Injection 6 required cost 156.00 Injector kit, fuel ( One injector per kit ) ( Stamped #5235210 )
Theres been lots of talk of disc type injectors in 88 Fiero's on these boards over the years but no definite proof that they indeed came from the factory with them. I know personally all the 88 2.8 Injectors I have removed / looked at are the old pintle style.

Over the years, there were a random few Fieros that received odd-looking injectors. They looked a lot like the Tomco injectors that the Fiero Store used to (maybe they still do) sell. I've heard of them even appearing in an 85 GT that a friend had, that had never been apart before he got it. (Speculation is that they ran out of the "usual" injectors, and substituted these in order to keep the line running. But it's just that - speculation.)
Having said all that, both of my 88 V6s had the usual pintle type injectors.

Those look like the Tomco injectors. This is what the others (the more common pintle type) looked like. Edit - Not a great pic. The nozzle end has a pintle cap the looks like a derby hat.

I can see at least a portion of a part number on the upper-most injector body in the pic... it says 4086. I'll have a closer look at the actual injectors tomorrow to see if there's anything else written.
Well,I had a look in the engine bay but there's just no way I can see anything more than what's in the photo. The lines of sight are just way too obscured by everything else. I had a look at the injectors installed on my spare '88 engine and they are clearly the other style like Raydar posted. The part number on those is 5235210.
Here's another pic of the ones on my '86 if it helps:

The problem with going by what's actually installed on any given car today is that it is very likely parts have been replaced / upgraded at somepoint within the past 23 years of the cars life.
Maybe someone needs to buy those ~200 mile 88's so they can pull the injectors out and see what style they are.

Thanks jelly, that confrims some info. Unless the multec injector was a replacement later on (after 88) to an upgraded design.
Funny, the N.I.F.E. spotter guide mentions that GM used "hi-tech" multec injectors for 88.
Anyways, thanks again...
As of 3rd quarter 1990 GM had not superseded the pintle style to Multec, thats a full 2 years after vehicle production cease. It is likely they superseded to Multecs after that time frame though. At that point were greying the line of what was originally installed and onto upgraded parts.

The spare '88 engine that I got the part number from in my earlier post has 90K kms on it and hasn't been driven since about 1994 or so. By the grime on the engine, I can pretty much guarantee they are the original injectors and they are NOT the Multec ones.

Blooze, let us know what you find on your 88V6 engine. I have an all original 88GT with 105K kms but I don't need to take it apart yet If it ain't broke, don't touch it...

This should help. I have a set of original 88 V6 injectors I took off my car in early 94.
Here's a side view:
These are exaclty the same type of injectors that came out of my 88 as well (we bought the car with just under 40k on it, so they are probably original).
I also took apart a 85 SE 2.8 and it had the same injectors as well - but have no idea of the history on that car.
