According to this thread, I can get a bigger clutch by looking one up for a Grand Prix with the 3.1 / Getrag setup. I have searched for all the years they had that combo (89-93), as well as all S-10 applications I can think of and can only find the 9-1/8" setup. In most cases, they call out the same clutch set the Fiero uses.

What specific application do I need to look up?

It looks like several of the parts suppliers are replacing the 9 11/16" clutches with the more popular 9 1/8" ones as the part #'s listed in that older thread no longer show up on google as active part #'s. Also while searching ebay, I found several listings specifically stating the 9 1/8" was the replacement for the 9 11/16"

The early camaros/S10's had 9 11/16" clutches with the 14 spline, and the early 2.5 Jeeps had the 9 5/8" but you have to be careful as some came with raised diaphragms and required a stepped flywheel. This independent clutch re-builder is selling rebuilt 9 11/16" clutches on ebay, so you might give him a call and check on the pressure plate/flywheel (you want the flat flywheel setup) and confirm the bolt pattern on the pressure plate.

Did some more checking and discovered the std / raised diaphragm situation. I also noticed that some listings for what I know to be the correct (albeit 9-1/8") clutch set refer to it as raised.

I am looking for a stock replacement to put behind a stock 3.4 DOHC. I am building a daily driver and prefer to not use any "performance" or custom parts. Guess I'll have to hit the parts store and start comparing clutches. I could probably get away with the 9-1/8" setup because I am not going to be racing, just driving back and forth to work.

I am sure you know, but the 3.4 TDC came factory with a 9 11/16" clutch for the 284 Getrag - but it was pull style release and had a 26 spline input shaft. That clutch is still available... you just have to have the 284 getrag to use it.

I don't know if this will help, but the Fiero Store advertises a 9 3/4 Ram clutch for the Fiero.
In reality, it's 9 5/8. I have one in my 4.9 car.

Here's the part# from the box.

Of course, that's the spendy way to do it.

Ram shows it as a HD replacement for a 2.8 Corsica. Also shows it as a 9 1/8 disk.

The clutch goes with the transmission, of course. Far more TDC swaps are done with the 282 than 284. Much more likely he's using a 282 and needs the stock replacement clutch for the Fiero, but he could tell us that.

I did mention I was looking at clutches for the Grand Prix with the 3.1 / Getrag setup...

But for the record, I am using the Isuzu 5 spd. Same clutch, different throwout bearing.

I used the same one that Raydar mentioned on my 3.4 DOHC.
