First, the lights would go neither up, nor down.
After going thru most of the wires (total chaos hack-job by the PO) in the front of our daughter's car, and after replacing both motors, all relays and the actual headlight switch, I am presented with a new symptom:
The lights will go down, but not up!

Could this be wiring?
Anybody run into this before?

Any hints or tips are as always appreciated.

WOW! Now I'm dumbfounded... wish you were closer.

I would suggest getting 2 cars side by side and jumpering the wires from one car to the other. Basically make a jumper line to plug in the good cars harness & connect to the bad cars headlight motor... see what result you get there... That will by pass the bad po wiring and isolate if its the motor or the wiring. Now I'm not sure on the wiring from one year to the next. I know there was a change in the headlights at some point... just not sure when.

Obviously if you have swapped switches to a know good one, you know that is not the issue anymore.

Redraif, I'm tempted to pull the entire harness out of Anne's 84 and temporarily put it in Shanine's, except Anne's has Gen2 lights and the newer one-speed fan.
Yours would work though LOL
Come over for some German coffee & cake (and park next to Shanine's for about 2 hours and while distracted, I'll swap them right quick). Hehe

BTW: New known good motors on both sides, known good new relays

I thought I read that you could not get new isolation relays. Is that Advance Auto Part the right thing?

edit to add: Must admit a bias here..... I don't trust those guys.......

That's correct, you can't get them anymore - it was the last one they had when one of our club members picked it up.

Great troubleshooting tutorial.

Now I know it's not the isolator relay - I've got a problem in the wiring
No power on the white wire
Thnx
