ive got most of my harness built except the C200, C500 and relays n ALDL. i just got the engine in the car and noticed some things...

1. the torsion bar is hitting the SC'r snout. how do i go about getting these off? ive seen so much in the archives that i do not know which way is the best. i can drop the motor back out in like 30 min if i need to.

2. the dogbone mount isnt lined up to the fiero... where ever that mount would go (its been cutaway) but i can tell it is slightly off because where that triangle hole is on the strut, its too far over. if that wouldnt have been cut away, it would be smashing right into it.

any other issues i run into, i will post in here.

Torsion bars can be removed with motor in. Put a towel between hindge and window. U will need security bits to get them off. Takes a little to get them out hut not to bad. Lining up depends on where u mounted the motor. Since Iranian missing then make one up.

I just removed the deck lid torsion springs when I installed the intercooler. Prior to the intercooler install, the deck lid pivot cleared the supercharger snout.
There is a lot of pressure on these torsion rods so exercise extreme caution when removing them. You can crack the back window and easily break a finger if you are not careful.
Here is my method. I use a 1 ton cable puller and a ratcheting lashing cargo strap. I attach the strap to the bottom of the torsion springs under the deck lid hinge. The strap gets attached to the cable puller. The other end of the cable puller gets attached to a tree or to the back of a truck or anyplace that it is secure but above the trunk. I then just crank the cable puller so that the rods pull back from the torsion pins and pull/push them out. I then put the cable puller in reverse and click it until all pressure is released. Next you use a security torx socket to get the pivot bolt off. The rods come out easily at this point.

As for the dogbone; a custom mount is usually required. Don't count on the stock 3800 bracket lining up. Most often they don't.

Use a tie down strap to pull the bottom loop toward the rear of the car.

Remove pin.

Release strap.
Remove torsion rod.
It's a LOT easier than you think.

I never had any residual tension on the torque rods after doing this (unlike the previously posted link to PaulV's site) unless the weight of the deck lid was still resting on the torsion rods.
Support the deck lid with a broom handle or 2X4. No need to remove the deck lid.

ive got the RD adjustable solid dogbone i had on the 3500. id love to use it on this because it looks cool

We did one of those last weekend at GA. We used a good thick nylon rope and two people (one big strong one could do it too) pulled on it while a 3rd removed the pin. Took like 5 seconds. If you don't have friends close then do the full setup.
