ive got the RED wire taken care of, my question is about the GRY wire on the SC3 connector. what is done with this one?

Try running it without the field duty cycle wire (grey wire) hooked up. It *should* work ok.

The older style alternators had field duty cycle wires too; in some applications it was connected to the PCM, in others, it wasn't hooked up at all. Those alternators worked ok without it hooked up (as long as the red wire / alternator turn-on circuit was hooked up).
