Evening PFF'ers,

My "BRAKE" light on the dash remained on today even when the brake is released. After doing some reading, I had a quick prod around the car. The left hand side actuator at the caliper does not seem to be returning fully after the brake is released. If I act like the return spring then the light goes out. Don't think it is maladjustment as the actuator will return by hand so guess its caliper or cable related.

Any guesses/diagnosis methods as to caliper or cable at fault. My initial guess would be that the cable is starting to stick. Neither is going to be good news.

Also any recommendations of where to get good quality brake cables and/or calipers please? GM cables still available?

Cheers
PK

There's another thread similar to this one by sspeedstreet... he found that the return spring at the caliper seems to have lost some of its tension. He's listed a source for several potential replacements in different strengths. Check it out here: www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/117508.html

Thanks as ever Blooz.

The actuator feels reasonably stiff but not sure how stiff it should feel! Will do a side to side comparison. Springs would certainly be the least painful place to start.
