I picked up a Temp sensor for a 1998 3800SC motor for my 4.9 build is this the correct Temp sensor?

2 wire or 3 wire? Yes the CTS portion of the sensor will work electrically. You might have to change the connector and/or wiring to make it work on your engine.

Or both? A 3 wire CTS/Temperature Gauge Sender will do both CTS (ECM/PCM) functions and Temperature Gauge Sender Functions.

It is a 3 wire sensor... at least it has 3 metal prongs in the conector end.where the pig tail connect to. Now I just need to find the pig tail.

The two outside pins wire to the ECM. The center pin wires to the TEMP gauge.
