Trying to find out what others have done to replace the steering stops that were removed during the LeBaron upgrade on the front brakes. I have searched to no avail and am trying to find a good solution. Any suggestions from folks that have done this mod would be great. Thanks!

You can take the old caliper brackets and cut off the caliper mounting features and are then left with only the steering stop portion. Then you just bolt them onto the back side of the spindles like they were originally.

I think I have a set of these brackets that I modified sitting in my not being used since I have moved away from 84-87 Fiero's. I'll sell them to you or can take pictures if you need to see it visually to modify your own. It's not hard to cut them. I think I did it with a jig saw and cleaned them up with a grinder.

I have my old brackets but the problem is finding bolts that are long enough to go through all the parts and have full length thread. It looks to me like I need M12-1.5 X 75mm DIN 961 Class 10.7 bolts and the only place I can find them at is fastenal at around $30.00 shipped for four. I am not trying to be cheap about this, but $30 for 4 bolts seems kind of nuts to me. I think there has to be a better way.

Drill a hole in the new bracket at the correct location. Tap it your favorite thread size. Screw in a bolt until the head is where the steering stop on the original bracket was. Use a jam nut to secure it.

Don't drill a hole unless you have "unusual" brackets which will retain enough meat.

I took my old caliper brackets and cut off the caliper mounting points. I also tried to find some long metric bolts and had no luck. To fix that problem I drilled out the threads on the spindles to the same size on the brackets and ran a standered grade 10 bolt through the 11.25 bracket, spindle, & old caliper bracket and put a lock washer and nut on the back side.

Thanks everyone, especially for the photos. I think I can figure something out from your suggestions. Chris.
