Alright guys, I'm stumped. I'm replacing my heater core and heater hoses. I've got the heater core in but I ran into problems when I went to install the new molded hoses. The hoses didn't look right from the moment I bought them at O'Reilly Auto Parts. They looked too short. Sure enough, when I got them on the car and attached to the heater core they were no where near reaching the pipes under the car.

Are there different heater core to pipe hoses for A/C and non-A/C cars? I've looked on different websites and I don't see anything different. The hoses that were on the car were just regular cut to fit heater hoses that were spliced and clamped together. Just a general comparison side by side shows that the ones that came off the car are much longer (and junk). Any input on this would be appreciated.

Tim

*This is an 86 GT originally equipped with A/C.

The only aftermarket hoses I've seen were only for non-A/C cars. I bought straight hose and used UniCoils to route them.

Thanks for the quick response, that answers my question. I guess I'll have to pick up some straight hose and some UniCoils tomorrow.

When I replaced my heater core, I could not find hoses easily either. I removed the original hoses, and took them to my parts store to match up the diameter, and bends with those hanging in the back. They were more than willing to allow me some time to pick out the proper hoses. I bought two that were very similar, but longer. I needed to cut several inches off to achieve the proper dimensions. I would let you use my hose stretcher, but she would be mad that I even mentioned that.

What part numbers did they give you? Compare to the Rock Auto listing here:

PS - Rock Auto is GREAT for looking up stuff!!!

I checked Rock Auto and Napa Online. Both sites listed the same Gates part numbers as the two hoses I got. I'm just gonna go out tomorrow and do what Xanth did. I just want the car back together.
