Well I took my axles apart tonight and the tripot from my drivers side manual tranny Fiero shaft and my 4T65E HD shaft are different and will not interchange. I thought that I would just take the roller assembly off of the main center shaft and change it but the splines are different on the center shaft. So now my only hope is to change the roller assemblies with the needle bearings over to the other tripot bearing assembly. I hope the diameter on the three ends is the same and I can change the needle bearings and rollers over. What a royal pain in the ***!! Oh well! Does anyone know if this will work? Anyone had to do this before? Thanks.

Are you using the 4T65eHD or the 4T60? Seems I read a thread of yours and you are using a 4T60?

There is some good info about the 4T65eHD axles here:

My donor car was a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI. Supercharged 3800 with a 4T65E HD tranny.

"Someone posted in a thread I read recently that you need the tulip from either a Grand Prix GTP or a Regal GS for the Fiero axle to work. The "others" that won't work would be from the Park Avenue Ultra, Riviera, Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS, Eighty Eight LSS, and Bonneville SSEi."

A quote I pulled from another thread.

I have not looked on the factory supercharged cars lately, but I believe the monte/impala use the wbody style axles.

The bonne axles do use larger parts, and it is hard to get a fiero outer adapted to them. I do believe there might be some way to build a swap axle out of the Hbody axles.... but it would take some serious poking around.

I used a Bonnie axle on my car back when I put it together...I had to swap around alot more with it them any other axles I have built...The outer Fiero cage will not just slip on as you have to use the Bonnie cage. I also had to swap out the inner tri-pot bearing when I did the inner part. This is if I remeber all this right as it have been 6 or so years....Guess it was all right cause it is still holding together....

Well again Mr. Mike Gonzales was right. Thank you Mike for all your help and advice throughout my swap. The axle that I used on the right side of my 3800 swap was indeed a Fiero manual transmission axle with the inner tripot from a 98 Buick Regal. Fit like a glove! The Regal also used the oval style bearings. Just like the Fiero. So just needed to change the inner tripot and kazaam, 3800 S/C Swap right side axle!!

On the left side I used the factory Fiero automatic axle. Just like so many of you guys suggested. Thanks to everyone for all your help.

I thought the fiero automatic axles were to small and weak to use for the 3800 series 2 SC. thanks

I would make sure your automatic fiero axle is an original gm part atleast assuming it is it will be fine for alot more power then most 3800's will make.

Smaller than the manuel or GP axles....YES>....Weak I would say NO....The stock auto Fiero axle has been proven to be a tuff axle......
