Well I've finally gotten around to cataloging my Cosworth Head kit and I thought I would share some photos and info. As I'm not an expert on this combination, hopefully some of the well informed members here can add some additional background and information on this. (I think the development story of the Super Duty Engine Program is fairly well known so I won't rehash it here.)
I've come to the conclusion that I don't have the budget to do anything apporpriate with this and still complete my other projects so I'll probably be putting it up on the block soon so it can go to someone who can put it to better use than me. (anyone restoring a Spice C2 ?)
Before I do I'd like to create a small information archive here to share with the community.
Background: I'm not a Fiero guy, but became interested in the Cosworth Super Duty years ago when I was researching an engine build for the "family heirloom" S-10 pickup. (but that's another story). Recently I found out about one available in my area and just couldn't pass it up. This was puchased as the Kit from GM in the late 80's by the owner of a Custom Shop with plans to incorporate it into a roadster project. The project appearantly was never done and the parts were relegated to a back shelf saving for the block, head, and cam cover which were bolted together for display. I purchased the parts from the original owner's son after he passed away suddenly.
The kit was never assembled but years of hanging around a Hot Rod shop left a lot of the original tags missing and bags torn and deteriorated, The kit looks like it became a source of neat hardware (socket head scews) for other projects as well. I don't know if this is the last unassembled kit still out there, but it's got to be one of the few, so I thought it worth documenting the parts.
Big thanks to Tomcars1 and FastIndyFiero for parts lists. I have just about everything identified, rebagged, and labeled now. It appears that almost all the specialized parts are present and the only parts missing are hardware type items that should be relatively easy to replace.
Soooo here's what we've got:
Basic head with cam caps, water neck, and head bolts.

The Timing Set.

Another view.

The Valve Set (one inner spring missing).

The Cam Cover.

Exhaust Flange.

Wire Set.

Optional EFI Throttle Bodies.

Mock Up on a Super Duty Block.

I also have a 5 view full scale engineering drawing of the engine from Pontiac Motorsports thats 22 feet long.

I have some magazine articles pertaining the Cosworth Super Duty and some projects that Pontiac Motor Sports did. Maybe someone could PM me with a way to post PDF docs on this message board.
Here is an article on the Stinger Concept car which utilized the Cosworth SD powerplant.
http://www.highperformancep...c_stinger/index.htmlI know there is more info out there on this forum. Please feel free to add links or info to this thread. Or just let it float to the bottom...
