i would like to upgrade the stock headrest speakers.
they dont sound to to bad. but looking for something alittle more crisp in sound.
i been reading up that 3.5" speakers will fit. but i havnt been able to find any. i see alot of 4" round speakers.
would 4" speakers fit inside the headrest? maybe opening the hole alittle bigger or would i be running into problems?

i dont want to rip the seats apart until i have some new speakers for the headrests.

They just sit in the foam, there is nothing holding them in place so if you have to fit a slightly larger speaker all you have to do is open the hole in the foam pad up a bit.

I bought mine at crutchfield.com and they were 3.5"

http://www.crutchfield.com/...-Speakers.html?tp=96

I would recommend getting the 3.5" and not trying to force a larger size. Yes, it is just foam, but you don't need two 4" speakers behind your head and you also want a little padding there

BTW, here is when I added speakers to my seats: http://www.mrmikes.com/fierospeakers.htm

Clearwater = Awesome!

Make sure you tell them you are getting them for a Fiero so they give you the correct harness connectors.

Fierosound posted a link to good replacements. Be careful what you put in there. Most 4" speakers you are looking at are probably 4 ohm. Once hooked up your radio will see a 2 ohm load and that can be detrimental to it's IC amp chips health. If you go with 4 ohm speakers you will have to redo the wiring so that they run in series instead of parrallel. While not overly difficult it is somewhat made a bit more complex by having both a left and right channel in each headrest. Essentially you'd have to do some cross wiring between the seats to make it series instead of parrallel.

thanks guys for the info. ill check out the clearwater stuff.
i found some JL 3.5" speakers at cruchfield.
i have an aftermarket JVC headunit. and even with stock speakers. the headunit really woke the speakers up. i can hear them more clearly and less distortion.
i heard all sorts of good stuff about JL speakers. so i might give them a try. that or check out clearwater. i never heard of them before.

im planning on doing what fierosound did with the subwoofer placement. i dont want any award winning sound. just enought to fill out the low end. heck. i might even be happy with a stock style subwoofer replacement speaker rodney sells. and get a subwoofer housing from the fierostore.

so many possibiltys! maybe ill ask for some car audio for christmas
