What’s the deal with FWD oil pans? If you have ever seen a RWD racing oil pan it has trap doors and baffling to ensure the oil goes or stays where it is needed. It seems to me that FWD engines use a RWD style oil pan. What gives????

Here is a simple example:

When making a left turn especially a hard one the oil has much farther to go and return to the sump then a right hand turn. This would definitely cause problems on a road racing course.

A hard left turn under heavy breaking would leave the oil no where to go but forward in the pan, surely this must come close to starving the pick up with normal oil levels even worse if you were a half a quart low.

Or a hard left turn while accelerating leaves the oil no where to go but up, back into the engine. Not good for rings seals or HP.

It seems to me that a FWD specific oil pan would have a very shallow front tray used not as not an over flow for the sump, but only as a return to the sump while doubling as a windage tray.
The sump tray would be extra deep to prevent back up, and not used an over flow for the sump.
There would be two extra compartments on in the front and one in the rear separated by one way trap doors or baffles at the very least.

Sorry correction

"When making a left turn especially a hard one the oil has much farther to go and return to the sump then a right hand turn. This would definitely cause problems on a road racing course."

When making a right turn.....then a left hand turn.
