Some people may judge me saying that if i cant get a stripped screw out to just quit but im not like that im going to get this fastback on one way or another.
The car started out as a clean 84, one part of me feels like im ruining the car the other part loves the fastbacks so im doing all that is necessary, i loved the fastback since the first time i seen it.
After i took the lights out, i went through hell becuz a screw was stripped and i ended up messing up the right tail light since due my being impatient
Bumper came off many bolts would spin in place (that i do know how to get out cuz i seen someone do it before with a flat head), many bolts that came out will not be reusable, any suggestions for that?
the GT bumper would not fit on the 84 bracket. i tried to cut down the bracket but the only tool i had available was some scissor like thing dunno what its called, my neighbor said thats all he had that would cut metal, i need something that can cut precise, the far right end of the bracket is how it should be i need to cut it with accuracy so i stopped there.
after cutting the bracket GT bumper almost fits but bracket needs more cutting or i need to get the right bracket
Good for you... don't listen to pessimists... get that fastback on. As for the old nothback light, don't worry about it since you're not going to need it anyways.
After looking at what you're up to, I can tell you that you're going to need the fastback rear fascia bracket. It's similar to your '84's, but different enough that you need the specific bracket otherwise you'll have nothing to hang your rear fascia on along the top edge and it will droop. Also, don't forget that before you attach that rear fascia back on, you're going to have to make some tail light wiring changes unless you got the rear light harness from the fastback as well. Good luck & keep posting your progress.
I did this with an 88 coupe, and let me tell you it is NOT easy, but that doesn't mean you should give up. You just need to remember that you will run into major issues that hold up progress over and over again. Even a small thing like a stripped screw can ruin a whole day of work as you found out. You will need some other parts to make those GT bumper to fit, like the egg crate behind the bumper, and I think quarter panels will look weird without adding the ground effects. Anyhow keep it up and you'll get there eventually.
i think i just found a miraculous parts car, i really hope so, if so i can get the parts missing, i heard the wiring from notch-to-fastback does not work 100% because of the "pontiac" light or am i wrong? also heard they are dimmer if you dont have proper wire harness (which i do not have)
Well, the biggest issue with the rear lights is that the brake lights are independent of the turn lights, unlike your notchback where the brake lights serve double duty as the turn lights too. There's also two more bulbs in the fastback, not including the Pontiac emblem, which has four more. I've done the conversion several times now and it's not hard, but as Whadeduck knows, be ready to chase down a few gremlins. If you're not already familiar with how to use a multimeter, there's a good chance this will be when you learn. But don't worry, there's lots of us to walk you through if you have problems.
If you want all your moldings to match the round on the fastback; the parts car is a necessity! You're going to be swapping lots of stuff over. If you are entertaining dreams of a raucous engine transplant, perhaps going w/ the f/back donor to build from. The '84s harnesses are somewhat less friendly than the later years. If the donor car comes available, step back and take a very objective evaluative look at the whole puzzle. Might be more effort and time to change direction, but could have more satisfying results, be smart, not impulsive. If it doesn't have rust or a salvage title, going the other direction just may be easier.
Got a local Fiero club? Members w/experience are worth a lot in these situations. Not to mention acess to proper tools. Tin-snips just don't cut it! Pun intended!
Me, I waited for the correct 'build bed' to start with. I'm an older guy w/time and income, so waiting wasn't an issue.
ok heres some updates with what i was able to do today
i was able to get the Notchback clip off and with the help of a friend able to get the Fastback clip to clip in right under the roof (you do this first right?)
i did not bolt in anything at all on the fastback, its simply tucked under the roof with the 3 studs sitting inside their respective hole
this is the hood just sitting on top of the engine (in case it rains)
wondering if after the hood is mounted will it close? This is an 84 notch trunk interior untouched
bonus pics, with the bumper just sitting, gonna try to cut down the bracket a bit more i think the GT bumper will fit fine now it lines up much better already and nothings even bolted in,

more updates, this thing is coming along slowly but surely
me after finally lining up the fastback with everything else
had to "re adjust" the old 84 Vent bracket to make this one fit and screw in/out like the old ones
Fastback clip bolted in
for the trunklid to fit i need to cut two tiny little corners that are unseen on the outside, they are in the very very back right under the window glass, i have to cut a tiny bit off so the trunklid can fit, also i think i need to drill two holes for the tensioner bolts to go in, im going to need help from my dad to get this on correctly though
Took it to the gas station down the street just like this to put some gas in it since the tank was nearly empty and i had some guy check it out and talk fieros with me for about 20 minutes, apperently he had one in the 80s and his girlfriend had a GT in the early 90s.
Im done for now untill my dad gets home and hopefully helps me with the trunklid

Big thanks to my friend eli for helping me figure out the 84 trunklid tension bar system
(i would have pics but my digital camera is not gonna be in my possesion till monday or tuesday.
