this one has been mentioned a few times in some of these low fuel light discussions. it doesnt look like this kit is available to order anymore, so lets copy it and remake it!

here is the parts list from what i can gather

(3) 10k-ohm resistors
(2) 47k-ohm resistors
(3) unknow resistors
(1) 100uF capacitor
(1) 220uF capacitor
(1) unknown diode
(1) unknown transistor
(1) 10k potentiometer
(1) light bulb or LED

start (without the resistors)

finished

Warning! light

Using Google I found a link to a low fuel light project on a Miata site. ( used search terms LM339 and "low fuel light")

The main part of the circuit is a LM339 quad voltage comparator, which is used to compare voltage on the sensor wire from the fuel gauge. The small trimpot located on the lower left of the circuit board is used to set the trigger voltage to turn on the lamp when the fuel level is low.

Link: http://list.miata.net/1995-04/1052.html

There should be a few other circuits for Low Fuel Light on the net, plus some cars have Factory setups that could be transplanted.
Some changes may include replacing the panel lamp with a LED.

nice. but 64 bux is then again, a 64 dollar light can help save your fuel pump, towing expenses and long walks on the bea....to the gas station from the side of the road. i like the build it yourself one tho. just a nice hobby getting to build electronics.

yea, seeing that 2nd post gave me new terms to serch with. finding pleasing results from the glance i just took.
