My Fiero has a 87 2.5 with a 5spd tranny(stock).. one of the shifter cables is sliding off when I attempt to shift through the gears.. is there any way to fix this without having to replace the entire cable?

found my fix Thanks to Rodney Dickman.

If the male ball socket stud comes out of the female round hole
when you drill thru the plastic.. first gouge out a "mold" in a 2x4 the mold will be the same size as the plastic .. this will hold the cable firm and secure while you drill and the chance of breakage is much less.. when you eyeball the repair unit you will understand what I am saying
It only takes a few minutes to make this " form jig "
