Hi everyone, I realize there are a lot of topics regarding this subject, but I just wanted to hear everyones thoughts on my situation.

88 Fiero GT, 131,000 kms, Getrag 282

Some points:

-Clutch does not slip under load.

-Car needs to be shut off to shift into 1st or Reverse.

-All gears can be easily selected when car is shut off.

-Clutch pedal sits lower than the brake pedal.

-Car creeps forward on level ground with car running in 1st with clutch fully depressed.

-If you start the car in neutral, and try to shift into a gear with clutch fully depressed, its very hard, and sometimes will grind into 1st or Reverse.

-Clutch pedal used to engage right above the floor before this happened.

Question:

What is the year that they started putting all steel clutch pedals in the Fiero's?

Course of Action:

So, I'm thinking possibly a new clutch pedal first (already have a Fiero Store one), then possibly a new master, new slave, and a proper bleed procedure.

Am I on the right track given the symptoms?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

99% probability you have a hydraulic issue. I would replace the master and slave, bleed and your car will shift normally. Not likely that an 88 has a bent clutch pedal.

I bet it's a leaking master or slave cylinder, more likely the slave, that is causing your problems, not the pedal.

Check your banjo/rod between the peddle and the master - peddle sitting lower than the brake is a clue. Can you pull the peddle up?
