I recently attempted to fix my pegging temp gauge using http://www.fierosails.com/tempgage.html . I ran in to problems after the fact. I thought I would run it by you guys before digging back in.

First, I successfully used this document to do my 88GT. No issues. Last weekend I did the same on my 87GT. It all went very quickly and easily. I could have made a mistake. I did the job and started the car. No pegging temp gauge. Then left the car in the garage all weekend due to rain. On Monday I was going to drive the car to work. As I left the driveway I noticed some odd things on the dash. Both turn signals were partially lit, the fuel gauge was pegged. Maybe more, but I don't remember. I pulled the car back in the garage and parked it.

I referred to this diagram and noted all my problems were coming from the connector C3 .

It may be as simple as the connector is not seated like it should be. I guess I am asking if it is possible if the procedure was written for an 88 and there is a subtle difference between the 88 and 87 wiring that could cause this.

I did the fix on my 1986 SE and had no problems.

One thing I did was to make sure the flex-print connections were clean before I re-assembled the dash.
Radio Shack sells a spray contact cleaner. This will remove the tarnish/corrosion on the connectors and flex-print without damaging either.

My guess is you may have the C3 connector not seated fully or it's shifted out of alignment.

It is also possible to get that connector plugged in upside down, which will do strange things to the gauges and lights. (Been there, done that )

This is interesting to me because i have the same problem. One of my blinker lights is partially lit all the time and my fuel gauge doesn't work either. I'll have to check my c3 connector.
