I bought a '91 Cadillac Allante, transmission, but from the research I've done on many different sites, I have gotten some conflicting info. does anyone know what information is contained on the plate(s) / sticker or any other useful information. I am aware that it is TH440T4-f7 later referred to 4t60 and non-electronically controlled. info or good site or related thread would also be helpful.

Thank's Jeff, that's a great page, I have saved to favourite's, I don't see my tranny I.D code there though. those are the V6 tranny's, I was looking at another page that mentions about (with Vespal rings) the overhaul kit is different than the V6 4t60 kit # 4002, http://www.bulkpart.com/Mer...ory_Code=4T60-440-T4 still not sure of the final drive ratio either ?

I have an incomplete list of gear ratios and how to read the tags on 4T60's on my other car-related-addiction forum. Unfortunately, I don't have many of the codes and it looks like yours is a '91.

I didn't want to join the LeSabre forum but the final drive ratio is 3.21:1 I figured it was in that range.

I'm not advocating anyone else to go out and find this transmission because I am still making enquiries about using it, researching etc. "A special strengthened F-7 version was also used for the 1987–1992 Cadillac Allanté.

One unique feature of this transmission is its use of both a modulator valve and a throttle valve (TV) cable. Most transmissions either use one or the other to control shift points and shift smoothness. On the Turbo 440-T4, the TV cable exclusively controls the shift points, while the modulator valve controls the shift feel. This feature makes it very easy for a home, "shadetree" mechanic to adjust the transmission shift points with minimum effect on the shift feel."
