Not that I would pay this much (as I'm too cheap), but this Fiero has a history.

It's not just another car that some Palooka has altered.

Exactly. And it is offered up by a wholesaler. But, there is the history value.

That car will probably be listed for the next 10 years since eBay now charges $125 for listing it until it sells... There seems to be about 5 Fieros on eBay that are always on eBay...

3 heater cores, a constant volosity carburator and some plumbing and you should get close to that. A friend of mine using this setup on a 64 Fury III got 35 mpg on a sb 400.

So if this works as well as claimed then why have I not seen this on other cars? I mean I read this before but only in passing. Looking at the number according to the seller, according to hot rod mag, probably according to smokey (IE - who knows how true it is) he more than doubled the HP and Fuel economy. You would think something like that would catch on.......

anyone have something to add?

I'm guessing something like this never caught on for the same reason the EV1 was killed. It would probably just be TOO efficient and the big corporations would slowly (and secretly) kill it off so they can continue to bathe in dollar bills.

Probably waiting for Smokey's patents to expire, like GM did on the automatic transmission.

Could you elaborate on the automatic transmission issue?

I've been told that's the same reason we're seeing a resurgence in Turbo chargers. Some patents held by Mitsubishi expired recently, or are about to. - I haven't researched this myself, so please take it with a pebble sized grain of sand. I'm not even sure what search terms to use to confirm or disprove that claim.
IIRC patents are valid for 30 years, if that helps any.

At $27,000 it didn't sell. What a surprise. Basically this is just an 84 Fiero with the Smoky Yunick Hot Vapor engine, which in all probability doesn't work as claimed.
I can believe the 50 mpg figure as a Duke properly set up can provide as high as 40 hwy MPG all by itself but 250 HP?? Thats a stretch. So this owner wants you to pay $27,000 for a curiousity that gives roughly 20% more gas mileage.

idk but i liked reading the website about the fiero w/ Smokeys engine.

"This is a one of a kind Feature Car that will never stand out in a parking lot. The difference is under the HOOD and in its history."
i always like it when people assume the engine in the fiero is under the hood
just wondering, have we ever come to a conclusion on whether the hood is where the engine is or if its just in the front? i remember there being a thread on that but not wat the conclusion was, and i cant find it under search...
